LynneNY may the plant you are reffering to is pontedeira..it also appears in the las pic..those are 2 pontedeiras...
Jonna yep..dauben is there..and the mottled pads one is Sulphurea..I have one division that has thousands of sulphureas...if you are interested...
Daubenyana is the only tropical lily I have and is the one that does not stop blooming..is the one in bloom and if you look closely in the fourth pic you can see some buds from sulphurea coming to the surface... @O@ @O@

From searching pontederia is pickerel so I think he's not seeing the one you mean. Edit ... Ooops, he posted as I was typing this. LOL

If it's the one I think you mean .... you can also see it in the 5th pic, top right corner .... it almost looks like water primrose to me but probably isn't.

Howell-Do you still have your floating carnivorous or bog plants in the floating planters you made?  Are they in the deep end of the pond? How are they looking at this time of year?

Any updates on your vivips and lotus from seed?

My next female cat will be called "Whata Lily"!

Lynn, I think that it was mentioned being Pennywort. You know, some people learn these big Latin names for plants and lose their intelligence. lol

Just joking, Howell. :)

This is all so funny and getting confusing!  The funny thing is... I just bought a pickerel 2 days ago!  And yes, I was asking about the other plant - the one that looks like it vines?  I just looked it up and it is pennywort.  Thanks everyone! O0

Wait!  So now I am confused.  The pennywort looks like "dollar weed" that we have growing rampant in our grass and flower beds.  It grows off of a vinelike runner root system that spreads all over the place.  We try to get rid of it in our lawn, but it is DESIREABLE in a pond?  I don't understand???  ?)(?

That is really beautiful; I love the lily pads.  All the plants make it look like a beautiful tropical lagoon.

GTN, we all have different tastes. :) It is a good chance that that dollar weed is another form of pennywort. There is more than one variety. I think mine is giant pennywort. There is a picture of it in Michelle's post on pennywort blooming.

Most ponders like flowers, I like flowers and unusual pond plants. :)

Pennywort and dollar weed are the same thing.  It's very adaptable.  I got my first bit of it by yanking some out of dry soil in a park where I bicycle.  Stuck it in the bog and it's been doing great (meaning, overrunning the whole bog!) ever since.

not to confuse you guys further, but there is also moneywort.  Moneywort is similar, but smaller and has rounded edges of the leaves (pennywort is somewhat ruffled). It is a land plant.
