Things are calm now here...but Gary/gander had a slight scare in Oklahoma.  He is okay with just minimal damage as far as he can tell in the dark.

The cold winter & spring have delayed many of my lilies.  It also killed a lot of my tropicals that usually will make it over the winter.  The cooler temps are a nice break, but the wind is driving me crazy.  Lily pads flipped, tall marginals constantly falling over, etc.  But I'm grateful that there has not been really severe weather like hail or tornados.  If I'd been Gary, I'd have been so scared.

The weather has moved north and east. Now in upstate new yoahk.

Now that would be something - a tornado in New York City!
Of course, it probably wouldn't be as nifty kean-oh as the Hollywood productions that have already done it.  8)

The heat and the humidity I can handle.  In fact, Bring 'Em On!  I LOVE the heat!

But the WIND - that's another story.  IRRITATING!  I hate it!

Hair is really not a concern for me...I hate dirt in my eyes.

:D  and yes, it is very irritating.  At about 50 mph it is very hard to stand up and a danger of being hit by flying debree.

It is fairly calm now so I'm going to the garden to plant some sweet corn before the wind comes up with the sun.

Gale force winds are not unusual here so when this system came through...piece of cake.
40-50 mph winds...   :-)~  and hurricane force gusts up to 80mph snapped a few branches.
All cleaned up and ready for the next...  8)

Howell, come on up here in Kansas.  We have had sirens going off in the afternoon 2 days in a row now.  Storm chasers were every where going after the tornado.  News channels report all the twister sightings and where they were headed to.  Hails, strong wind gusts, storms came through our area but thankfully we are still in one piece.  We don't have earthquakes or hurricanes but those darn twisters sure can do some major damage here on houses, barns, building, semi trucks, trees, etc.

You're still real young and foolish. Do you know that most storm chasers that survive have studied meteorology? If you want to live a long life, either change your course of study or stay away from tornadoes. {nono} I have first hand experience with them. They are not fun.

See, I do show concerns for my friends. :)

You could come down here when a hurricane is coming and give that a try  :o   We have a friend who stayed in a ground floor beach front condo when hurricane Mitch was coming straight at us.  He was about 19 at the time and wanted to experience it.  After 3 days of clinging to the underside of some kitchen cabinets in the pitch dark with the sound of a freight train over his head and knee deep in salt water full of debris the storm passed on.  He said he was going to be in the first thing moving for the next one.  He couldn't hear well for a week.  We've had a couple direct hits since Mitch and he left.  He says it is a lot more fun drinking and waiting from a hundred miles away.   lol

Hahaha...Scott if I ever do go to try to see a tornado, I will do it with the storm chasers gruop and some specialists...I might be young but not naive at all.
Hahaha I might try to be in a hurricane too but not in a condo close to the beach.
Hahaha bad thing is I don't drink so I will not be able to be some miles away and drinking...lol...maybe barbequoing...lol

 >:(  There were tornado sightings all around us last night.  Baseball size hail was close by, but ours was small.  The petunias on the porch look pretty ragged.  I haven't ventured out to see what else is beat up.  The "good" news...we did get 3 1/4 inch of rain.  Total so far for the year is 11 plus.  Our normal for the year is about 18.

I have a friend whose grandmother was killed in a home when a tornado flattened it.  She wanted to watch Twister, but insisted on going alone, because she knew it would be a very emotional experience.
