1. Is Johns Angel Trumpet Burgmensia.
2. Is Beaumontia.  it took 20 years to bloom.  This is normal according to the ex member Derrick in Hong Kong.

Johns was not kidding when he said that "Inca Gold" will give you plenty of blooms!"

RE Beaumontia. I had given up ever seeing blooms and forgot what it was.  The Hong Kong guy I.D it and it came back to me.  Too bad he fought with most people he exchanged views with.
He had a wealth of information.

Beautiful brug Jerry!  I can't wait for mine to come into bloom - 3 years ago I got some small cuttings of Charles Grimaldi and Adora from on online friend who lives in Texas.  I have to overwinter them inside, but it's well worth it - the heavenly scent is amazing, and the flowers are so gorgeous!!!

I know I asked this before, Jerry, what the heck are you feeding the Brugs to have so many blooms at one time?  Mine look like wimps in comparison and the leaves keep on falling off!  :'(

Jerry yours looks like it is growing near your compost heap. Is it planted in the ground? Is it getting any nutrients from the compost heap?
I've always planted mine in the ground or in HUGE pots and they bloom like crazy with plenty of root room and Osmocote.  8)

 Gosh, thanks Jerry!   o(:-)  I will add more osmocote and a bigger pot.  I have a large one, albeit leafless, sorta, in a pot >>going into a bigger pot today if I can find a neighbor to lift the sucker.  I also have a small, year old cutting, planted in the ground>>>more osmocote for that baby.  Thanks Joyce!

I have never fertilized my brugs and they flower very nicely here in full all day sun.  Mine are planted in the ground in mostly clay soil.

These pictures are from last summer.

Adora bloom - huge!!!

A night shot of Charles Grimaldi - see all the buds?

Gorgeous flower Lynne.  OK...my double whites are going in the ground.  Although I have clay dirt naturally I have amended most planting areas.  Just need to find the right spot for it.  But then again I sure would like it potted near my kitchen window view.  Oh the decision....

The night photo is fabulous.

I have not fertilized.  I probably did when I planted but not since.  Not much rain here but maybe some nutrients from the compost pile.

I learned the "secret" of making compost. Turn , turn, turn!

Oops yes I have fertilized.  I do use Miracle Grow in a hose end sprayer.  Why?  it is so easy!

I have a variegated Brugmansia (Angel's Trumpet) that has flowers that are also variegated.  It's name is Maya, and I got it in trade with another Brugmansia society member.  I also have Insignis Pink, Ecuadorian pink, Super Nova (white), Herrighauser Garten, Cherub, Inca sun, Tutu and Charles Grimaldi.  Anyone want cuttings?

Now for the full disclosure warning:  Brugmansia are poison if any part of the plant is ingested.  All parts of the plant contain the tropane alkaloids scopolamine and atropine. The problem is that young people on finding out that the plant is hallucinogenic they may try to acquire it to smoke or otherwise ingest it.   Not so long ago a German teenager that drank Brugmansia tea made of a plant (B. X candida ‘Tutu’) in his parents garden.  After ingesting the Brugmansia tea he went without further notice out in his parents garden and cut off his penis and tongue with a garden scissor.

In my own case, three young adults came by one day claiming to be plant enthusiasts admiring the Brugs I have growing in the front yard.  They were members of the Belarusian church next door so i gave them a couple of rooted cuttings.  A year later, two of the three came by asking  about the toxicity of the plant as their friend had eaten some of the leaves and was in the hospital.  I have no idea if he survived.

WOW! Serious fair warning! :o

I wonder how many adults smoke that.
Seems like some are on something, the way they behave, and the crazy things they say. ;)

Sending you a PM John!  O0

Many plants are poisonous. Even the oleander that seems to be everywhere in California.
I understand that most of the stuff in your under the sink cabinet could kill you if ingested.
Maybe the Burgies are more notorious?

Oleander is MUCH more dangerous than Brugs. Oleander is deadly even in small amounts.
So dangerous that I got rid of my two potted plants, traded them to a local nursery.
My neighbor has a toddler son that is not disciplined much, quite the wild child and he has been rushed to the ER several times for eating plants. He is often at my house and thinks all plants are edible. Caught him once pulling the blooms off the Oleander...and that was that...they are gone.  :o

another one of my favorites that unfortunately I can't have due to a child that thinks everything has to go in her mouth (especially plants).

Johns that story literally made me cringe and my tongue hurt!  That's horrific!

They are not hardy here in zone 6, so they would not be there.  I have to bring mine indoors - I take cuttings from most, but do bring in the main trunk of Charles Grimaldi because that is the one that grows the best for me.
