Let me go by order...

Pring is potted...(Front Pond)

Colorado is in the mud...(Front Pond)

Arc En Ciel is in the mud...(Back Pond)

Shady Lady is potted (sitting atop the mud) but escaped...(Front Pond)

Pink Ribbon is potted (sitting atop the mud) but escaped...(Front Pond)

Escaped means the tubers have grown over the edges and down into the mud.

They are incredible! How big is your pond?  Do you ever divide them?

The front pond is roughly 50 x 105, roughly, depending on how much it has rained. (6 feet deep in the deepest part)
(edit: I just remeasured because a couple years ago we relined and renovated, made ponds smaller because twon said not to have it so close to road)

The back pond is roughly 60 x 80, depending on how much it has rained. (4 feet deep in the deepest part)
(edit: also recently made smaller with berms for overflow-flood purposes)

I divide the lilies once in a while.
Waiting for a new pair of waders to arrive (probably today) so I can pull a few promised divisions.

Holldoll, yes, the ponds at my office. Here I just have barrell ponds, a couple of preforms and the little pondsai. :)
Do have plans for a 16 x 32 swimming pond in the works.  8)
My new waders are VERY cool, form fitting, almost sexy lol  and not cumbersome. No more leeches between the toes.  ;)

Don't need any more weeds in my ponds.  :o  {nono}  ::)

I'll stick with the Truly Named Beauties.  ;D

Everything looks great! It's nice to see them again. Quick question though- what kind of waders are you getting? I took mine out and discovered dry rot at the knees- they're no longer waterproof.  :( I've put off all my re-potting and dividing because of this and really want some waders that will last.

At the mention of your little pondsai, I realize how much I miss seeing your pix of the one at your other house.  Do you have pics of a new one at 'new house'?  I would LOVE to see them if you care to share.. :)

They are Lacrosse Brand.  They are like thigh high boots but come all the way up to crotch level.  :o
Can use straps like garters if you need to but mine stay up pulled over my jeans.
My chest waders did the same as yours. Disintegrated. Plus I HATE chest waders cuz if you happen to get water in them...OMG is just sooooo heavy to get out of the pond.
So now these crotch high waders will be a LOT safer and I don't need to go much past my knees. Nothing is planted deeper than mid thigh that I need to get to.  8)

No, the pondsai is NOT ready for pix yet. In the works! Maybe by mid to late summer. It's a back burner project.  :)
But I do promise you this...it'll be better than ever!  O0

Joyce, with my experience of lilies over flowing even the biggest pots I can find, keeping certain varieties of aggressive lilies confined in pots in a mud pond must be near impossible. My question though is once they do jump ship is it possible to remove them all or will they just take over? Also do you fertilize the varieties that are not potted?

No, I do not fertilize, no reason to because they eat all the muck at the bottom including rotting leaves, dead bugs, duck poop, etc, etc.

I get in the pond several times a year and pull divisions out of the mud. This keeps the lilies 'pruned'.
Once you get hold of once of the running type tubers...it's like pulling up a thick rope. The muck is pretty loose so it doesn't take much pull.
I use a knife and pruners too, pulling and cutting/clipping at the same time. I usually have someone at the edge of the pond who catches all my divisions as I throw them to the edge of the pond.

Oh the koi did not eat your euryale ferox seedling? There might even be more. It is a species it does not need to be Truly Named. It is one of a kind as far as I know.  And it is self pollinating. o(

As I have said before, there are no fish in this pond.

It doesn't matter if it's a species or not. A Truly Named plant has to be from a participating member or certified grower.
Here is a link to the awesome WGI website explaining the program.
It's a good read, very informative to those who may not understand the Truly Named Program:)

Joyce, you have two ponds at work and one has koi but the other has no fish? I wasn't sure how many ponds there were. And one is lined or are they both lined? Do both have mud on top of the liners?  I have never had a mud bottomed lily or lotus pond so I am trying to keep up with what you are describing.

When you said you got in the ponds, I right away wondered if you had someone on the shore.. With ponds that size and depth you gotta be careful. I fell in mine one time---kinda sat down but thought of if I had slipped like that and banged my head on a rock and noone was there !!!!!

I can just imagine you wrangling one of your lilies off the bottom. Like tug of war with a plant.

But if I did, they would be $5 each plus shipping.  :D Maybe soon.  ;)

Tink, There is still so much wide open space.   @O@
Hoping for a few Euryale seedlings to fill in but all the rumors about the seedlings taking over are proving themselves to be false alarms.
But I am not surprised. The few that I see floating around will have to do.  :P
