First of all thank you everybody, I'm glad you like it. This is what I wake up to every day in the summer and then I swim around with them until about 1 o’clock with my face in the flowers while wearing magnifying glasses.
It's a tough job but somebody has got to do it.
I’ll make you some bouquets later and post them. That's the best way for me to show you the subtle differences between related flowers. Also it shows that it is not a camera mistake that is giving a particular flower that particular color that just drives you nuts.
Here are the answers to your questions in order.
OK the big question is when is Sunfire going to be on sale. I would like to know what the answer to that question is maybe more than you do. The answer depends on three things, how quickly I can reproduce the required number of saleable size plants, What that required number is, and when can I find someone qualified to do the sales etc for me because I'm to busy breeding lilies to sell any.
The lily thing really is a labor of love for me. The money thing is something I hate. In other words I love working on my lilies and when I have to work for money I hate it because it takes away from my lily work. Selling lilies is working for money. Don't get me wrong I would love to make some money selling lilies and I am dirt poor.
I have a web site waiting to go when things come together. Selling other peoples plants is not really what I have in mind although I have most of the good ones, enough to sell. I would rather not compete with people who can grow vast numbers of plants way more cheaply than I can. I can carve my own little niche and live in it quite comfortably I'm pretty sure. I don't need much money, I'm land and lily rich.
OH, Sunfire. Tentatively will be available, In limited quantities and probably not cheap at first, in 2012. Assuming things go as planned and the earthquakes and volcanos and asteroids and religious wars and overpopulation and disease and famine and pollution etc don't kill us all before then. There are no jobs on a dead planet you know. Sales tend to decline.
Rich Sacher is promised my first wholesale sales and he will have a display-test pool of my plants for people to see at his nursery I believe, in New Orleans in 2011. I may not release some plants that don't do well down south after testing.
Esther, Tinkster can get you here. If you can't walk the quarter mile out to the ponds and back I can give you all, I mean y'all, a hay ride to the ponds if you can't drive. I am FROM WV. by the way.
Sue, I think everyone should have a hole in the ground !
KY. Kim. I'm right next door. Well almost, next state.
MYRA ! Myra has been officially registered and named and will be one of my first plants to become available because it makes babies like crazy and I can make a lot quickly. Pics will follow.
Tinkster, Yes there is something you could bring from the world out there. I desperately need for you to bring me for my work. I need for you to stop by a pool store or maybe a Toys are us and buy me some air mattress type floaters for my lily work. They sell these lousy thin cheap ones at the dollar stores and Wall mart etc that don’t work at all for me.
I need the thick kind that aren’t quilted but have baffles, I guess, inside that allow it to be thicker. 6 to 8 inches thick is about right and it must have a thicker pillow like section at the head end. 30 inches wide is around maximum width but 32 would work. Normal length and width for those things is about right, just not to wide, so my legs can hang off of the side and I can paddle with swim fins.
I could easily use two or three of them because I’m doing crosses in three ponds every day and if I have an air mat in each pond then I don’t have to carry a big floater from pond to pond along with my tools etc. I can pay you for them when you get here.
I could also use some LONG swim fins. The last ones I bought I found at Goodwill for 2 dollars. Fins are not nearly as important as floaters.
Bring some food ! You know me I’m starving out here.
I’m a good pond siter and engineer and give me a dozer with a 6 way blade or my tractor and I can build it. If you can get me to your place and back I can definitely site a pond for you if there is a site I can design it and in the fall when I have time I could dig it.
You don’t need a liner.
Actually I have a friend that might like to drive me there. She wants to see your ponds and falls.
Everybody needs a bigger pond, even me !
Sunbeam, There is NO maintainance and NO COST of maintainance. Crystal clear water and lots of fish. It's all about the marginals and the lilies and NO surface water enters the pond, just rain that falls into it.
