My first Lotus bud- Thank you all:)) And here comes the first flower

The seeds (N.Nucifera) I had started last year July and since then I asked some questions here in the forum and followed all other posts and now today I have seen my first bud that made me soooo happy. THANK YOU ALL.  o(:-)

Actually, everyday I was checking my pots several times hoping to see the first bud. This morning what I saw was abt 4" over the water level. I believe it should be there growing the last 2-3 days but never noticed, as you know such surprises happens often when dancing with mother nature.

Some details;
- Seeds bought from Thailand.
- In my garden soil, hard clay.
- This season fertilized 2 times by NPK  18-46-0
- Pot width 15", depth 12"
- Bud came out after 17 aerial leaves
- Received full sun

And some questions please;

- Though the pics are not so clear, is it normal that the bud to be so small?
- Thinking that it will take min 2-3 weeks to bloom? Any special care to be taken?

Looks good Tugo.  I seem to have done better with Lotus when I didn't know anything..

The bud starts out very small, but will get larger over the next week or so until it opens. By that time the bud will be very big. Congratulations!

2 years ago I bought and still they go on selling in the market. It comes from China, retail 9,-usd. Production costs + profit+ shipment costs+ taxes+ wholesale profit+ retail profit, I don't know really where are they hidden:))

After one year, starting from the seed, today I was very happy to see the first flower, ever.
Stayed 19 days in bud and this morning, did really bloomed:))

As far as I was informed by the supplier, the seeds were from N.Nucifera. Would appreciate to be corrected if I know wrong. Thanks.

Thanks to all. Yes getting the "first" is always exciting.
Miguynmkoi, nothing special. Too much sun, little water level and some fertilizer and 1 year of time period. Hope you get in your next trial, too.
