Finally captured...
« on: June 19, 2010, 08:06:26 PM »
on camera!!! ;D

I've been trying to get at least one of the many dragonflies by my pond to sit still long enough for me to take a picture.  This one cooperated nicely for me today. o(:-)

On a sunflower bud

Then nearby on a tomato stake I have at the pond to keep the heron away!

Great pics Lynn! Glad you found one to co-operate! I ahve them here a lot, but like you said, they are shy when it comes to getting their picture taken.

Good work Lynn, I tried many times but no good capture. Yours is perfect.

Each spring one dragon fly owns the air space of my pond and it is really nice to follow his fight/love ?? with the visitors. They hit each other quite strong by producing a crash sound. The visitors are also wise to fly just over the water level that the pond owner cannot have enough place to make dives and makes round and rounds flights over the pond, trying to catch the other one as it moves to leave.

Great pics!  I have lots of pics, but none in focus like yours, they are elusive!

Very nice pictures!  I had tried holding my hand out to see if any would land - no such luck, but I'll keep trying. O0

Thanks, LJC.  And Welcome!

Looks like you are a real devotee of dragonflies.

Really nice photos, Lynne.  I love the soft blue on the lime green sunflower.

Nice pictures. I love dragonflies but can never get one to sit still long enough to photograph. This year, I have one that looks just like yours; he spends all day chasing off other dragonflies. Today, I was doing some maintenance on the pond when right next to me I see what I assume to be a female of the same species (looks totally different) hovering next to my head and laying eggs on a partially submerged lily pad. She just hovered there for minuets paying me no mind dipping her tail repeatedly into the water on the lily pad.
