Look what I got for $15!
« on: July 05, 2010, 04:25:36 PM »
A new nursery nearby had a grand opening planting fest party.  Look at the great deal I got planting my own planter full of succulents.  Can you count how many I got into the big metal tray for $10?  My DD chose the small metal tray.  The deal was you could plant as many of the succulents they had in the 2" or smaller (1" plugs) into an arrangement of choice.  Well I went crazy  :D :D :D.  DD was embarrassed for me while she watched how many plants I stuffed into the tray.  I didn't even use any of the offered fresh dirt to fill in between.  When we were done the owner even commented how beautiful the arrangement of succulents were.  I'm sure he was cringing as he said it.

I think I got more than my monies worth. O0

What do you think I'm going to do now?

Those are beautiful! I'm SO jealous! My husband just built a little rock retaining wall that has perfect pockets for succulents and cactus that I'm filling. Those would be perfect in there!  {:-P;;

Mikey, the old Laguna Hills Nursery, in Lake Forest, is now Living Green.  Beuatiful set up. You should check it out!  But of course that would mean you need to swing by my ol' pond.  ;)

Thanks LeeAnne!  I will count how many succulents I have stuffed in this container and let you all know.

I was looking at your picture while having my morning coffee. Didn't have time to post how pretty they all are, and how you got a great deal. After that I did my shopping, and walked past a pot with three of those succulents in it. It was 12.99. So, here I'm back again and wow! You really, really got a great deal!  ;D

Thanks Karen!  I made a killing making these trays and some have them have shot up some flowering stems.  Very cool.

Don't you think I would have!?!  I only wish I didn't walk to the nursery with out my wagon!  I knew the grand opening would be busy so DD and I walked about 15 minutes to the nursery.  >:( Had to lug the trays home.  Naturally my tray was really heavy by the time I got home!
