Some blooms at Sean's Pond on a misty day...
« on: August 08, 2010, 11:52:52 AM »
I thought I would take a few pictures today, even though it is misty and overcast a few blooms were generous enough to open up.

Cheers,
Sean

I'm always amazed with your pond and balcony area garden.  Very tropical feeling to it.  What is the name of the red vine flower?  I bought one two years ago and it finally bloomed for me when I discovered a beautiful fragrance form it.

Hey Sean:

Every time I see your patio I'm amazed with all of the work that goes into it.  I really lie the clematis... I will have to find it on line.

Cheers,

Gary

The vine is gloriosa rothschildiana and comes from a bulb type tuber. The clematis is Multi Blue, quite an easy variety to find, it is a multiple bloomer having fully double blooms in the spring and single to slightly double in the fall.

Your pond is beautiful--don't misty days make the best days for pictures?   :)  Ditto on the gloriosa bloom:  that's gorgeous!

Sean, it looks better than ever. One nagging question, though, and I hope you don't take it the wrong way, but how do you keep your balls clean?  :D
I can't keep mine in the water because they get crusted up with mineral deposits. Yours are nice and shiny.

What are those for? I noticed them in a prior post and wondered what their function was...

The number and variety of plants you grow on your balcony are remarkable Sean.  I imagine it takes a fair bit of vigilance to ensure that it doesn't become overgrown and weedy looking (like my pond at the present).  You've created a perfect place to sit back and relax after a day at work.  I love it.
