Thanks everybody, now you know what has been keeping me so busy lately. It's been 20 hour days for the last few weeks.
I said I would send some plants to some people and some other things but I have been swamped by VERY important things so don't give up on me I think about you every day and will get to you eventualy.
What's a good name for my first purple hardy X tropical plant ?
So far as I can tell it is making babies, WHEW !, but no seeds yet. So expect to be able to own one of these as soon as I can make it possible. The other two pink H X T plants you see at Tims IWC site are also reproducable as are most of my H X Ts so far. A few are like Pairat Songpanich's Siam Blue Hardy in that there seems to be no tendancy to make offshoots and the plant's structures so far are maintaining a radial upright growth habit exactly like a tropical.
Will they make tubers like a tropical ? who knows ? The leaves are thick and hardy feeling. I have no doubt that they are all hardy. Well very little doubt anyway.
They either smell tropical or a mix of tropical and hardy. The smell travels far and is not as strong as most tropicals but there is nothing else like it,very nice. The flowers are all held high.
I must have over 20 blooming now, expect over 100 by fall, but you will have to go to IWC to see pics as I can get them to Tim. I gave an exclusive to him to show pics of my H X T plants. Maybe I shouldnt be saying much about them to you guys even. I'm not sure. I don't know if Tim wants my information exclusivly or not. If he does he's got it. If I am saying to much Tim stop me and I'll take it back. I just want to give APers a general idea of what's up.
Desertponder what is FB ? Oh yes Face Book.
Marie the turtle that is eating your lily stems is a snapper for sure. I have a big one that devoured one of my plantings of Yellow watermelon just that one plant, only the stems. RES turtles eat leaves not stems. You need to get rid of that snapper and mine is headed to the dinner table ! Not as a guest !
I can't swow pics of my H X Ts but I can show you what else is new !
Thr first pic is my replacement for Mankala Ubol. Mankala Ubol is a great plant once it starts to flower but it doesn't start to bloom for me until July. This replacement has the same color and flower but it has more marbled leaves, it blooms like crazy and I think it will start blooming in May like my other lilies. It is not a Mankala seedling.
Some seedlings being tested.
A tropical volanteer
Fairy Skirt blooms like nothing else. It just drives me crazy.
