Best tasting watermelon I ever had....
« on: August 11, 2010, 12:38:28 PM »
I thought I was the gardener in the family but the Fetching One out did me today.  Her watermelon was the sweetest tasting watermelon I have ever tasted.  Even the seeds were good.....  I wanted seconds but she pointed at my tummy and said I didn't even need firsts........   ;D

That actually was her "practice" cake for our granddaughter who arrives in a few days.  It will be her 1st birthday.  The Fetching One took the cake tonight to a choral group she sings with.  All I got was half a slice of one of those wedges......

Wow, that cake looks awesome!  Was it an actual cake, or an ice cream cake?

It was a regular cake.

She has made several using fondant but I don't like the texture or taste of fondant.  The only photo I have of a fondant covered cake is this one that she did for our son's birthday at the cast party where he was the stage manager for a play "Into the Woods".  You would have to see the play to understand the boot.....

Her cakes look wonderful

I love the play into the woods.  My daughter was in it in high school.

Wonderful cakes. DH hates watermelon but loves cake. I bet he would eat that one though. Your wife is very talented.

Tell Bev, her cakes look great. Also tell her that I have several friends and relatives who are semi pros----either have a small business doing cakes or wish they could have----there is a fondant you can make instead of buying it and it tastes a lot better than the purchased stuff. If she hasn't already, tell her to Google it.

Thanks Esther.  Right now she is not into cake making.  She has several hobbies and I think she got burned out on decorative cake making a couple of years ago.  Now she only makes them for special occassions.  When she does make a cake she gives it away because she doesn't want us eating all that sugar.
