Pooped
« on: August 15, 2010, 12:51:03 PM »
Was up until 1:30AM this morning pulling pork from two pork shoulders that had been in the smoker for about 12 hours.  In a few hours we will be enjoying some of that pork at our granddaughters 1st birthday party....  When I awoke this morning the fetching Mrs. Mikey wondered why I wasn't hungry for breakfast.....   {:-P;;

Sounds yummy.  I could eat about anything smoked in a smoker.  Pork and turkey legs are my favorites.  o(:-)

We put the pulled pork into a newer model crock pot that is quite large and filled it to the very top.  It came home empty....

We put cole slaw out on the table with the pork so that folks could have their sandwiches "Memphis style" but these ignorant SoCalifornians didn't have a clue and they ate the slaw separately as another salad....  ::)  You can lead a horse to water..........

Mikey, have you ever tried the N. Carolina style. with the vinegary BBQ sauce and slaw? It was so ubiquitous when we lived in the Va tidewater area. Almost addictive...
I've tried the TX style, which is more like a gravy, and the KC style which is thicker, and sweeter. But I don't think I've tried the Memphis style. Although I did make Meathead's "Memphis Dust" for my last shoulder. Which brings the question can you use a Memphis rub with a Kansas City sauce?  :D

Maybe that is my calling for this week. Memphis... rub AND sauce.

Sorry Mikey. We won't be able to make it to the party. The invitation must have gotten lost.

Sure sounds like a wonderful entre though. I can't believe your grandkids are that old already.

Sounds great Mikey!  So that's what was cookin'!  I can almost taste it from your description.   8-)~  Being one of those ignorant SoCalians I've never had Memphis style anything but I sure would try it!  This weekend with family and friends over for food fest we even talked about different style bbq ribs and how many different types of sauces from different regions there are to flavor ribs.  I know now there are too many but I am willing to give up my waist line to test them all.  Sacrifices we all need to do, now and then..... ;)

Happy birthday to your granddaughter!

We ate lunch at a BBQ place in N. Carolina this past May.  They had several bottles of sauces to choose from including a Mustard sauce, White sauce, Red Vinegary sauce, Hot sauce and Kansas City sauce.  All of the sauces except the Kansas City sauce were cider vinegar based.  We tried them all but I must say we don't care much for the vinegar based sauces.  We must have a sweet tooth.....or two...

LOL@Annette.

Sorry about the post office losing the invitation Esther....   ;)

Our granddaughter was born about 2.5 months early last year when her mom had come down here for a wedding.  Here she is holding her dad's finger.

And here she is digging into her birthday cake yesterday....

I remember when your granddaughter was born. It's hard to believe she's one already. She is a cutie! The pork sounds delicious.

I remember you posting about her birth also.

She has a lot of hair compared to my daughter at 1 year old.
