Knocking on our deck door last night.....
« on: November 23, 2010, 08:14:26 AM »
It's been so dry this summer and fall.  The last week has brought some light showers, but we are still eight inches short on rainfall.  This is the first one I have seen all summer!!!  I think they are so darn cute.

We actually had two tree frogs and a salamander on our door that night.  o(:-)

We have finally been getting some much needed rain.  O0  I was a little worried about some of my trees, shrubs, etc.  Thought they needed a drink before bedding down for the winter!  I have too many plants too far away from the house to water them all.

Me too Karen,,,my hoses won't stretch that far!   ::)  We actually have worms on the road this morning...it's 60 degrees here this morning and looking to drop into the 30's by this afternoon/evening.  I wish it would--I have started my woodburner and don't like to have to 'make' a fire from start very often.  If I have to I'll cover the coals and hope they stay hot until I can get it going again.  We, like you, were desperate for this rain, and I'm thankful for it!   8)

I haven't noticed worms on the road here, but I'm sure familiar with that smell when you pull into the garage.   :o

Oh sure they are cute now...but, let one get into the house---and it will drive you mad...We built a small pond up against the living room wall and they drive John mad during the summer--the little males climb the wall up next to the window and call all night for a girlfriend  >:(-

Wonderful pics of the frogs.. I love seeing them climbing up the siding glass doors at the back of the house.. but like you not so many doing that this year... the heat and lack of rain was really disappointing.. did not get so much done in the yard this years.. thanks for the pics.

Cute. He was wondering what was on TV I bet.

Cath, we do have them in Michigan but a much smaller size. My stepson has lots of tiny ones near his house. One time about 6 years ago, I loaned him a bunch of plants in pots to decorate their backyard for a party. There is a huge swamp just down the road and I don't know if they come from there or not.  When I brought them home a week later, I found a treefrog in one. Then I saw it by the faucet in the front yard and then heard it a few days later. Nothing since.
