Well the greenhouse is doing it's job. I've got blooms all around. Not bad for the middle of December.

Beauitful, but I'm jealous...lol.  I haven't messed with mine much this winter, just making sure they stay watered to stay alive and that's about it.  (mainly because I broke my little toe, lol) so I just sent out dh to water and let things go.

I didn't kick the one who deserved it.  DH put a double bowling ball bag with 2 balls inside, one weighed 13 lbs and the other a 16 lbs.  It was in the hallway where it didn't belong, and the hall was dark.  I had been putting lights on the Christmas tree, when some of the strands didn't work.  Thought I had some on the shelf above the washer and dryer, that's when it happened.  My boys said mom you all right, I said yeah laughing I think I just broke my toe.  They went on, then it started to burn.  Neither of them offered to help me, lol.  I made it back to the living room and proped up my foot.  When dh came in and saw my foot, he said what happened, and I told him.  So, I said since its your fault....you get to put the lights on the shrubs outside, and help the kids put ornaments on the tree.

The hardest part about this, was trying to find a shoe to wear.  I finally took and old pair of tennis shoes and cut out that area. I work at a Bingo, where I do lots of walking.  This time of year, I just couldn't miss...need the $ $ $.  I went back the to doctor and she gave me some different anti flamatory, besides motrin.  It seems to be helping, its starting to look more normal size, lol.  But I still think its going to be like she said 4 to 6 weeks.  All, this for a litte toe.

If you are referring to the big blue wash tubs, they have my lotus in them and 1 feeder goldfish to keep the mosquito larvae in check and "Good" snails to keep the algae from growing. In the swimming pools I have lilies, oxygenators, "Good" snails and at least 6 feeder goldies. Over the course of a year the cheap feeder fish grow and I add them to the bigger pond and then restock as necessary. This year I have had quite a few babies supplied by mother nature so I didn't buy any this last year. The swimming pools are where I propagate all of my lilies once I separate tubers or grow out the vivips. Right now all of my tropicals are crowded into the pools.

Tim, gorgeous. Can you label the lilies?
That is what I wanted to see in my greenhouse over the winter (on a smaller scale) but we didn't get it done.

Ky Kim, I hate to tell you this.....I hurt my big toe in June 05 and it is still swollen and painful. I broke the tip of it and jammed it up under the front door and ripped off the nail. I've been to my regular doctor and a podiatrist and it still aches and I can't wear some of my shoes. I'm sure hope your foot doesn't act like mine. Crossing my fingers.

LeeAnne151,
I went back and labeled the pix above each group.

On a sour note... The night before last I had temps in low 30's, 60+ mph winds and bad luck.
The wind shredded all of the plastic from the greenhouse and even broke apart some of the PVC that was glued together.
I tried to redo it after I got off work last night but it was too cold for the tape to stick to the plastic.
I went out to try and work on it this morning before I go to work this evening but once again we have really high wind gusts and it was just wrapping all of the plastic up into a ball.
My only day off is Friday. We are supposed to have lows in the 50's the rest of the week so I am going to cross my fingers that everything holds up until Friday.
 :(

I don't. I live in Houston so the coldest we usually see is the 20's or high teens. I just needed to keep some of the ambient water temp from leeching out overnight as we normally warm back up some throughout the day. We only had temps below freezing a 1/2 a dozen times this year. I would get home in the evening, set my electric smoker in there and plug it in for 2 or 3 hours to raise the temp inside some and then unplug it before going to bed. I am really fortunate in comparison to my ponding friends to the north. They have really been hammered this year. If I did not buy so many one of a kind lilies last year I might not have needed it but I felt it was better to be safe than sorry as I spent a lot of $$$ last year on new lilies.

I have an electric heater in mine and it did work to keep potted plants from freezing but did not work to keep the tropical waterlilies alive nor the azolla nor water hyacinths.

Sorry to hear that you lost your tropicals LeeAnne. I had electric heat as well but when it snowed and stayed so cold the temps dropped in the greenhouse and the electric heat just couldn't keep it warm enough. We supplemented with propane heat. I learned that bubble wrap isn't worth anything as insulation. I also decided to get natural gas heat in there before next winter. I'm not going through this again.
