He was right when he thought he had appendicitis.  He had the surgery and is doing well. O0
Much pain for sure. It is a 6 or 8 week recovery.
He will post the details as soon as he is up to it!

Is this related to his concerns of several weeks ago?

Glad the surgery went well Sean.  Take it easy and get well soon!

Um, isn't he a little old to have that?? And yes, wonder if there is any connection to the episode a few months ago. Glad to hear he is doing fine. Crumby though when you have to be laid up.

I didn't know appendicitis was common to certain age groups.

Just copied this off a website but wasn't smart enough to take note of it.

Age
Appendicitis occurs in all age groups but is rare in infants; the incidence becomes increasingly common in childhood, reaching a peak incidence in the late teenage years and early 20s. The mean age when appendicitis occurs in the pediatric population is 6-10 years.

Isn't it rather odd that the only purpose of the appendix is to have it removed?  Get well, Sean.
I'm broke and can't afford to pay attention, so you might have to lend me an ear.

Thanks everyone,

Here is some info of what happened that I have copied from another posting. This is the first time I have felt well enough to sit and type at the computer for a few minutes. Still very very sore..

I had an appendicitis that went undiagnosed for two weeks. I had thought I just had a Gastrointestinal issue so by the time I went to emergency, my appendix was the size of my fist and perforated. It was so infected it affected the ascending bowel so they also had to do a Hemicolectomy, removing part of the bowel and reattaching the small intestine to the healthy part of the bowel. I am still on Dilaudid (hydromorphone) for pain management. They also found an abscess in my liver but it is quite far in and next to some arteries so it presents itself as a moving target so I chose not to have it lanced and drained so now have a PICC line in my arm that goes to my heart and I am on IV antibiotic therapy for at least 30 days. I do not expect to be back to work for 4 to 6 weeks.

Thank you all for the wonderful thoughts and please understand if I do not respond very quickly, it hurts to sit upright fro extended periods so I may not be back on the computer for a while.

Cheers,
Sean

Good grief Sean, you were (are) a mess.  I'm so sorry you are having to go through all of this.
Do you get your IV's at home?  I went through the PICC line and 21 days of IV's a year ago and know how grueling those daily trips to the hospital can be.  Take care of yourself.  I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Sean,
I can certainly sympathize with you.  My daughter had to have an emergency appendectomy at 3am Christmas morning!  Her appendix had ruptured, also, but she was not in as bad a shape as you.  She did have some abcesses form that had to be drained, but she is doing better.  She has 3 children, a 6month old, a six year old and a eight year old.  My husband and I had gone over to her house (about 3 hours away) for Christmas, intending to stay 5 days....well we ended up staying 5 1/2 weeks.  I certainly had a FULL time job.  I am getting too darn old for this.  The kids ran me ragged.

I wish you a speedy and full recovery and thanks for all of your work on this wonderful watergardening forum.
