Had to send our kitty over the Rainbow Bridge
« on: December 23, 2006, 12:12:29 PM »
Very sad day for Bob and I. Our Zipper kitty went into acute kidney failure out of the blue and didn't respond to treatment and then vet discovered it was cancer. She already had heart disease so since there was no hope and she was so much worse after intensive care we euthanized her. Bob is really crushed. She was his special kitty. We buried her under the bird feeder.

Very BIG 'been there' hugs for you LeeAnne. :'(
It's horrible to lose a pet, but so close to XMas.
I am so sorry. :(

Thank you for not letting her suffer.
You and Bob were good parents to her.

So sad. You picked an interesting place for her body to rest. She will forever enjoy watching the birdies.

Oh no LeeAnne, you both must be heartbroken.  I'm so sorry you have lost her, and especially right at Christmas time.  Bless you both for giving her a wonderful life.  (((hugs)))

Thank you. I just wish I had taken more pictures. It seemed like a lot but it isn't enough. It doesn't seem real...so shocking and sudden. Bob is devastated. Zipper was ten and seemed in good health and spirits right up to last weekend. This whole week has been bad. Her heart condition wasn't bad enough for meds after having cardiac ultrasound and other tests in January so we hoped for much more time. Her kidneys tested fine then. No reason to think she had Lymphoma either. She slept on the bed every night and watched the news in Bob's lap every morning. She was standoffish with others but really snuggly with us.

hello leeanne,
i can feel your pain. there are times when i wish i did not have any cats or other furry friends. for me to loose one, is like loosing a part of me.

i still feel so sad for the ones i have lost.  i lost a beloved cat in may of this year and i still have all the sympathy cards on the mantle. they give us so much joy and ask so little in return.

LeeAnne - I am weeping as I read this. I feel for you and Bob, but I also just lost one, am am poised to lose the ultimate special one, who is 14.

It might be weird, but my family is important, and is sort of there, somewhere, but the special 'schnookums' has been sitting on my lap for 14 years - guess who will leave the biggest whole in my heart.

Thinking of you and Bob.

Tears,

Mike

Some people don't understand that our cats are our children but many. if not all of you, do. I hesitated to post this because it is so depressing during the holidays and I knew that MikeW and Joyce had both lost beloved pets very recently and Sean this year too. I felt I needed the emotional support and the support of others who feel about their pets like we do. I thank everyone. It does help to know you know what we are going through and your caring helps too. Bob thanks everyone too.

It is the worst thing a pet owner has to do, but the years of love make it very worth it to have pets.

LeAnne,

Go get another cat ASAP.  You will mourn the loss of your old cat, but the new one will find it's way into your heart.  Or better yet, get a beagle!!

We actually have a new cat. He showed up in the yard last April and I found his owners in May but they moved away and left him. We had him neutered and vaccinated and decided to keep him in September. We had been feeding him for months outside and he kept coming in the house anyway. His name is Bobcat. He is a holy terror. Today he leaped up on top of my 6' bookcase and knocked down my 30 year old spider plant and rocks and a Breyer horse. No one was injured but there was potting soil 10' away.

Beagles are darling but I have no desire to ever have a dog. I like to visit other people's dogs though.
