Inconceivable!
« on: March 13, 2011, 09:15:59 AM »
Was just poking around in my container ponds and noticed that Bull's Eye, Lindsey Woods, and Ostara have all sprouted (Ultra Violet tuber was firm, no growth yet)! I kept these guys just a few inches from the surface over the winter...and we had some intense winter weather, with 4-5 days with high temps below freezing. These containers had solid ice for the top few inches for days at a time.

P.S. Bottom drain plumbing was finished two weeks ago, skimmer is nearly set, and I hope to have the liner in before the end of spring break.

Ponding life is good!  @O@

Ditto!  I was poking around my ponds today and I sure have a lot of Spring cleaning to do.  Plus I think I will raise my shelves for the lilies.  UGH!

Well I was sure I lost all of my plants because I did not cover my stock tank this year. I was throwing out my pots a couple of days ago and my King of Siam had little green pads all over it. maybe 6 or more crowns sprouting,, Also a couple of others. So maybe I have a few more I dont have to replace;. I have not checked the lily pond yet its full of leaves and needs cleaned out and I dont know what I will do with all the fish. I know that Miami Rose and Pink Flamingo and black prince are still in there and they usually winter over but you never know It is Oklahoma after all and not the south.

Sorry you got the snow tootsi.  It went by just north of me (SW of Lansing) but we did get the cold.  It was about 12F this morning here so I guess I won't be raking the ponds today.  Was kind of hoping the global warming thing was gonna bring me palm trees (and tropical water lilies), but it sure has not made this spring any warmer for sure.
