OhmyGodT Turtle egg on a rock! T MIKE?
« on: April 03, 2011, 03:36:03 PM »
Yes, I took a photo but my program won't cooperate just yet
I did build a "beach" close to the spot.
I tried to rescue the egg and it sunk!  I will attemot to find it.
I assume this is rare?  My wife was convinced I was paying a joke.

I hope you got it out of the water quickly they will drown.

Get a small container with a loose fiting lid and put a layer of very slightly damp vermiculite. put the egg on the layer and cover with more. once you have the egg in the container do not disturbe it. after a certain amount of time after laying the egg must not be turned, the up side must stay up. the temperature the first weeks dertimines the sex. I cant remember what temperature but around 80 f. I also can't remember how long to incubate them but I think 2-3 months. keep the vermiculite very slightly damp.

You can burry it 2-3 inches deep in the sand of the sunning area and leave it to nature and as long as they don't get dug up you should have a baby turtle. cover it with wire mesh like window screen domed up in the center and burried around the edge with rocks on the edge to prevent the big turtles from diging them up. Sprinkle with water ocaisionaly if it doesn't rain for a while. Sun is good.

The next one you find remember to mark the top of the egg with a pencil and always keep the up side up.

My Canon program has stopped working, but picture an egg on a haul out rock. No wonder my wive thought I planted it,
By the way, I uninstalled the progrm and reinstalled it Now it says there is an error.  I will try again.

I'm so excited about this for you.  Can hardly wait for the big day when you announce what kind of baby turtle you got.  I sure hope this all works out for you.  Will this be a first for you?  Yippi.  Bet you are all kinds of happy too.

I find this post very interesting - I have been using my husband's Canon Rebel for the past year or so, and about a month ago it, too, quite uploading pictures to my computer.  My husband reinstalled the program also, and I spent an hour on the phone with a Canon tech guy, but he was unable to help.

My son, who is an IT, came home for a visit last month and showed me another way to retrieve my photos, but it's a pain to do it that way.

Hope you are able to fix your problem easier, Jerry.

Wow Jerry! That is exciting! I hope the egg hatches for you!
I also have a Canon Rebel. So far it still uploads my photos, hope it doesn't start giving me trouble. I am NOT a computer wiz!
