Good luck!  It is going to be a challenge for you to discourage it from coming back.

This bird has gotten at least 15  3-4" goldfish & was sticking it's head between my wire caging this morning trying to get my bigger spawning goldfish that were using a bog plant in the corner.  I got as close as 3 feet away (didn't have a weapon unfortunately) before it flew over the fence to stand watching me until I threw a rock.  Then it watched from a neighbor's roof for another 5 minutes.  Lo & behold, it was back within 15 minutes on my roof again.  Put more netting up & at least I had gotten all the remaining goldfish out of 2 ponds yesterday.

It's amazing how much wildlife changes just over the course of a few miles.  We really don't live that far apart (as the heron flies - 2vettes and me that is), but I've never had one lurking here (Thank goodness!)  My neighborhood must be too dicey for the birds  lol

Sorry about your fish.  Now that it's gotten a taste of that colorful sushi, it'll keep coming back.  Maybe you could set up one of those motion sprinklers to scare it off.

The net hasn't been off the pond since a fall visit from the dookie bird.  A couple landed in the yard this spring, but the net stumped them from getting anything.  It's staying on even though I hate it and it's a big PITA.
