I just have to get this off my chest... nobody here to talk to anymore.
While I'm in school, there's a guy I've sort of become friends with, but conversation with him gets me to the point where I'm thisclose to telling him to just shut up for a while. He's a nice guy, but it's like he tries really hard to prove that he knows more than everyone else, and often times he has partial details without any facts.
He makes conversation extremely frustrating, it's like I could tell him that I raise koi and that I've done it for 26 years, and he will still argue with me about something that I know isn't true. He'd say something like, "a koi bite is poisonous" and I'd say, "no, it's not" and he'd say, "actually, it is and you need to get the antivenom for it". (that's not the conversation, but believe me it was just as dumb) You just shake your head and let it go, but you know he's telling the same thing to others.
Then he starts to tell me about something and says, "you want to know how it works?". I said, "not really, I'll never buy one of those so I don't need to know how it works." And so he starts to draw out a diagram and explain it to me. What part of "not really" was confusing??
If he says, "my brother doesn't like seafood" and I say, "my brother doesn't either, he's actually allergic to it". He will respond with , "I didn't say my brother is allergic to it, he just doesn't like it". Then I have to explain, "I'm not saying your brother is allergic, I said mine is". He will still respond, "well, he's not allergic, he just doesn't like it."
I don't mind someone teaching me something that I don't know, especially something that I want to learn, but sheesh - get the facts straight and don't try to tell me something that I know isn't true!
