Rainbow over the pond pic
« on: August 07, 2011, 04:27:56 AM »
Here is a picture I took a while ago that I thought was kind of neat.

One sunny day I was blowing  off the patio by the pond with my pressure washer and I saw a rainbow  in the mist.
The first thing I thought was:; "thats what the pond needs, is a rainbow" :)

So I proceeded to mount the wand on the pergola and tied it in the open position and turned on the pressure and TA DA.

Sometimes you just have to make your own entertainment. :D

Suh-weet.  I wonder if the tiny droplets would help keep the water cooler by preventing some of the heat build up that happens when the surface is very still.  then the light and heat penetrate allll the way into the water.
When I was a kid in Oklahoma, my neighbor had a teeny pond for fishing minnows.  It had a tiny jet sprayer that sprayed across the surface all the time.  I am thinking that is why they did not bake/boil in the OK heat.

I am sure the mist would keep the surface cooler if left running all the time. But just to clarify, I just did this for about 15 minutes. Just long enough to get a picture. I must try it again sometime.

Understood Wayne.

I was just thinking about how much of the USA is just baking right now with record high temps.  Lots of fish are probably ripe for some relief from the heat.  If the tiny droplets would breakup that flat surface and decrease the heat collection in the pond, it might be helpful.  Just a thought...
