The sky is falling, the sky is falling...
« on: January 10, 2007, 05:34:25 PM »
This is a sight we usually do not see here in Vancouver but this is the third time this year that we have had snow.

I just caught a photo above my pond with steam rising from the pond and huge clumps of feathery light snow falling. I hope it stops tonight and starts raining or it will be chaos at the hospital I work at tomorrow.

Cheers,
Sean

Nice photo Sean. It's been snowing here all day and we have at least a foot now and more coming down. Pete had to go to Victoria today for a funeral and he's hoping to catch the ferry tonight. I just hope he makes it home in one piece. Here's my photo taken this afternoon from our family room window. Between the wind storms and now this I can't wait for spring.

There are some large flakes there!  We have only had light flurries a couple times, hoping for more!

Very nice effects there Sean. I think you must be using old film though, there all these white blotches coming through ;D

How warm is that heater keeping your pond water?

Friday here is forecast to be 30 degrees cooler than yesterday - seems like winter is moving through.

Cheers,

Mike

I woke up to a scene that looks like what Maryvonne posted. No snow here last night other than a flurry which melted. I'm flying to Atlanta today, sure hope my flight isn't cancelled.....gotta figure out a ride to the airport too. My SIL said she would not drive in snow.

Burrrrr, that makes me cold just looking at it.  But it does make for a beautiful pic.  We've had a spring like winter so far, suppose to have lots and lots of rain this weekend.

The weather man is talking about some heavy snow this weekend. Not looking forward to it at all.  {nono}
So far winter has been pretty mild. Sure wish it would stay that way :(

Bad ice storm forecast here for the weekend. My employer is setting up a sleeping room and providing food for the weekend staff so we can stay there. I thought that was very considerate of them. I'm not sure how I'm going to feel sleeping in a room with my coworkers. LOL I just pray that the power stays on at home. An inch of ice will be the end of electricity for a while. My DH is going to try to find some wood today for the fireplace. The grocery shelves are empty so people are taking this very seriously.

Glad they are Kay..not like the people on the coast in WA when that wind storm came through last month....

Would like a bit more snow here..convinces the fruit trees it's winter..but with single digit temps over last night I'm thinking they don't need a lot of convincing!  Strawberries have a snow cover to protect them..so life is good if not cold

There are blessings. The fleas and other nasties will die. At least it is sleet at the moment instead of freezing rain. Better for the power lines.

I would rather how the white stuff any day.  We are in a ice storm warning till monday morning.  We dodged the bullet the last ice storm we had here the 1st of december.  If you would go 40 minutes north they got hit hard but ours was all rain.  Doesn't look like we will be that lucky this time.  They are calling for anywhere from a 1/2" to 1" of ice then several inches of snow by Monday.  Good weekend to stay in.  Too bad I have to work tomorrow.  Hopefully it won't be too bad yet.  Spring can't come soon enough.  :(

Nice pics! Still waiting for the big blizzard to get us here on the East coast. We had a few minutes of a snow squall, which covered the ground... it melted within minutes.
