Why grow lotuses?

Need you ask? Look at their beauty and majesty! Makes the effort worthwhile.
It won't be long until it istime to divide the tubers and plant them. Can't wait for spring!

They are so pretty. I'm hoping the one that I have will bloom this year. However, it does not like our dry heat so the pads that stand up usually turn brown and curl up so I'm not very hopeful for blooms.

OHHHHHHH, that collage of Lotus are both  breath taking and BEAUTIFUL , Matherfish o(:-) Another sweet ponder here, sent me 2 lotus that bloomed last summer, so pretty :)  The lady down the road and her son let the two huge horses " accidentally" out of her  barn :(  They took off very fast, jumped into my all around fenced in panels, jumped back over the other end, AND BOTH OF THEM SMASHED INTO AND OUT OF THE SMALL KIDDY POOL I HAD THEM IN :(((((((((((((

I have put lotus seeds in a vice, sued a sharp thin saw blade to make the slit.  Put them in a tall wide container only to have the them start growing :)  Then came time to transfer them on a huge tub with clay I dug from my pond :) Not sure what happened?? did just decided to die :( o(

Tootsie, I am not very good with seeds either.  ;D I grow all of my lilies from tubers. Seeds are not the same plant as the mother so you do not know what you may be getting anyway. Tubers are the same plant as the mother plant. Tubers are more reliable growers and faster than seeds.
Happy ponding, everyone!  @O@
