2 new small hardies
« on: April 12, 2012, 02:22:29 PM »
Always on the look out for small growth habit hardy water lilies that bloom well.  Got them late summer last year & they did fine over the winter with plenty of new crowns all with buds coming up.  Have a third one but no buds have opened up yet.

Both are very nice! I especially like Andreana. Please keep me in mind when you have it available! :)

I like your Pink Sparkle Kat.  I bought a very small one late last season that did not have a chance to bloom last year.  It is starting to put out leaves now so I'm hopeful it will be big enough to bloom this year.  As I recall from last year it put out its little pads in almost a perfect circle around the pot.

How does Little Champion compare to Perry's Baby Red for you, Kat?

Thanks Emm ... I'm sure your Pink Sparkle will take off well for you this year.

Jon, so far I'm impressed with this "Little Champion" compared to Perry's Baby Red.  I didn't get it from a Truly Named source so I'll have to contact the seller to see if she remembers where she got it for provenance.  It was an impulse buy last year & even if it ends up being unnamed I like how well it is doing.

Here we go for Indiana's first dainty bloom.  It is about the size of Joanne Pring's blooms (1/2 dollar coin) & I hope this lily continues to stay small & compact with a good bloom rate.
