Here is another of my favorite pix, because you can see 2 tiny guppies in the lower right corner, sunning themselves above part of a submerged lily pad.

Kits ponds are FULL of these little guppies, which keep the mosquitos from successfully reproducing.

Well Joyce you had a wonderful time so it appears. Craig's place looks nice and love the animals .......but I'm not a snake person. What kind of snake was that anyway? As for Kit and Ben's Lord, I'm living in the wrong place....talk about a piece of paradise.

Hey now!

I was in those pictures....those are my dirty finger nails, hope my mother doesn't see those photos.<g>

And the snake is a common banded water snake, Nerodia fasciata. I never hassle my snakes ( and we have bunches<g>) so they are pretty placid. They rarely slither away, they'd rather sit and watch me work.

Joyce, great pics. Those of Kit and Ben's ponds look similar to the ones that I took but their gardens are much better in person.

If anyone gets a chance to visit with Kit and Ben, it makes the trip worth while. The restraunt across the road ain't bad either.

Craig, I'm not sure if I ever want to visit you unless you can get the snakes to take a vacation.

Hi Joyce: noice photos

I was in Phoenix this week and it was realtively cool so it was nice to see the photos of Foxfire.

Craig I know what you mean about the snakes . They seem to jsut watch you work, but I think in reality they are just sunny thenselves on the coral rock. However, the Pygmy rattlers would spook me a little when I would get to close, but in general if you walk in a snakes direction it will quickly get out of the way. We also had water snakes, but the ones we had were all black and didn't look like the one in the photos.

Also, my brother is retired Navy, did Basic in Orlando.
His name is 'Andy' too, so now I know 2 nice Andy's.

Coming back to this artic blast just wasn't fair!

I've been shivering ever since I got back...just can't get warmed up.

Kit and Bens place just made me wanna pull up roots, move to FL and NEVER look back.
Sooner or later, we will. The older I get, the more I hate winter.

Jerry, that Colorado was just begging me for a photo!
It was still all beaded with morning dew drops...PERFECT.

Can beat a Colorado!

I don't think that is Mangkala, I believe it is one of the cultivars Andreas Protopapas sent me....I think it is named 'Thalia', but I'd have to pull the tag to be sure and at a chilly 60 F that ain't gonna happen.<g>

My pond is frozen, cats are perplexed cuz there's no running water. I put water out for them several times a day. The woodburner is fired up and running

and feels pretty good to turn your backside to that thing when you've been outside for very long
