That is one unique looking dog, almost Hyena-like, but a bit fox like too in the face.
Jamie Bill and I was just saying: Hyena-Fox-Raccoon cross. :D

How big is he? ?)(?

He looks sad and cold an in need of a friend.   Glad that someone is taking on that role, whatever he is.

Try a Toy Fox Terrier . . .

My first look was a Hyena.  Then I thought more, how about a summa dog.  Some of this and some of that.  But he is cute.  And he does look like he has some australian in it.

My daughter just walked by and said, what is that a wolf...lol

I agree, an Australian Blue Heeler.  My in-laws had one and it was the smartest dog I have ever seen.  I think he is really cool looking! (8:-)

I've never seen a dog like that before.  I Googled a few images of the Aussie Cattle Dog as mentioned above and they seem to have a pretty wide range of colorings but the head shapes, ears, jaws and mottling color of the fur seem to be similar.

My step-dad lives in Texas and there are a lot of cattle ranches out there. He called last night and sent the picture. It blew my mind but the little fella has a new home.

Definately an Australian Cattle Dog also known as a Blue Heeler. They come in red too. They are very smart, very high energy, working dogs.
