American Ponders gets Mag Plug
« on: February 06, 2007, 06:20:19 PM »
 O0
Just was sent Water Gardens Magazine by Country Decorating Ideas, Harris Publications and it has this plug under "News You Can Use":

"Magazines and books are a great place to start when you're seeking ideas and tips for your water garden.  But when you have a specific question or a conundrum that can't wait until a trip to the bookstore-or the next issue of Water Gardens magazine- look no further than the many pond-related message boards on the internet.  These boards are crawling with everyday homeowners who have faced similar challenges and are eager to offer commiseration, advice, or at least a nudge in the right direction.

"We like the AMERICAN PONDERS forum at www.americanponders.com/forum, which features lively discussions on general pond questions, DIY projects and a special section all about fish."

It has an article about Joyce's "Pondsai" and pictures of ponds that look very familiar to me, ............   o(

Take Care.....   Dave

Some more lively than others, don't ya think!!!!!!!!!!

Jerry and sean have worked hard and deserve recognition as this is a great place to get tons of help!  I have received so much good advice here on a variety of things.  Being not so patient, everything is an emergency to me :)

Howdy...  From the Managing Editor:  "There are no subscriptions, as Water Gardens only comes out once a year.  It's sold on newstands across the country and, depending on the region, can be found at Barnes & Noble, Borders, some grocery stores or whereever magazines are sold.  If anyone is having a hard time finding it, they can call our Back Issue Dept. and order a copy (this is issue #83).  The phone number is 212-807-7100 ext. 536."

$5.95 US...   $7.50 Canada...
I have no financial interest in this by the way..........!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't mind subscribing if they are going to stay in business.

Hey Jerry, if they would advertise us, we could advertise them. Maybe you could do a trade.

How awesome is that? Well I will be looking for it, I will have to make a special trip but will do it. If I manage to find a few extras I will pick them up. Andy

That is the magazine that contacted me after I posted a thread on the GardenWeb's Pond forum advising of the pond party at Jerry's last summer.  Some marketing person from the magazine who was reading the GW forum found that a pond-party was rather unique and she asked me if I would like to submit a ponding article and pond photos.  I declined but I said I would share her request with my friends here.  Congratulations Joyce!

Mara from Water Gardens Magazine - Harris Publishing is a member here. She contacted several of us to submit articles for print in their magazine. She had asked me for high res photo's of my building a display pond tutorial but I lost all the originals in a hard drive crash many years ago so was unable to contribute.

I am happy to hear that American Ponders may have had a contributor or two in their most recent edition.

Cheers,
Sean

Nope, no subscriptions are sold, just 1 issue a year that is sold on the newsstands. If you want to buy some back issues, call the aforementioned number 212 807  X536. I did, but the lady was away from the phone so I left a message.

I've just woke up and had no tea yet. We don't have news stands down here so how do I get a copy and whose ponds were featured?
