Lily recommendations?
« on: May 27, 2012, 03:11:35 PM »
Hi everyone!

I've decided to clean out most of my lilies. I'd like to get some that are a little more compact.  I feel like I'm cutting pads off every day but they are always covering 90% of the pond.

I'm going to keep:
Georgia Pink
Rhonda Kay
Almost Black
Pink Ribbon

I think everything else I have is just an unnamed yellow that is just too big and fast growing for my little pond.  I'm going to probably clean them out next weekend and if anyone is interested I will be happy to send them to you for shipping.

Does anyone have hardy recommendations for some smaller lilies?  I am in zone 6 but a cool zone 6.  I would like to stick with hardies - I haven't had great luck with tropicals.

I have Perry's Baby Red.  It is a good bloomer for me in zone 6.  I have about six little tubers in a dishpan and it had six blooms at once last week.

There is never enough room for all of the water lilies that I want ;-)

Thank you! That's a GREAT list! Funny I don't have one of those.  :)

Now to start collecting new lilies!

I think I will start with Perry's Baby Red - I like that one a lot.

I have a little Helvola that is blooming constantly. At least 4-5 blooms at a time. Love it! For intense color, I just bought an Andreana from Kat - very pretty and love the wide petal shape.
