Well, the name Rex is getting good reviews here. We'll give it a little more time though.
I couldn't find him all day today. When my daughter got home, she saw him for the 2nd time, called him over and he came to her. (unbelievable!) It's like he's been here forever. I have to lure him with treats, she calls and he comes. He hung out with us for quite a while in the kitchen, got some pics.

I'm in love!!   o(:-)   o(:-)   o(:-)  He is so handsome!!  I don't think he looks like a Rex though.  It's so hard to name a new pet!  When I think of Rex I think of a rabbit!  LOL!!  I don't know why.   :-\

Thanks everyone,

It's probably between Charlie and Ralphie. I've been calling him Charlie.
He is afraid of me, but loves my daughter. I don't get it.  :o lol

They say that he is about 2 yrs old, but he's not talking.

King Charles. O0

Ralphie doesn't do much for me. :(
(plus Ralph sounds like something you do the morning after a drinking binge)

Rex is definitely a 'king' name, as in Lion of the Jungle.  8)
Not for rabbits.  lol

My Willow II is a Maine Coon.
Gotta take a pic for you so you can see his 4-5" thick winter coat.
Makes him look monstrous. :o

Looks like he's settled in pretty good there.

Just a thought, I've bought cat toys over the years for all my cats.  But their favorite toy to bat around is the Ring off a Gallon of Milk.  I swear they hear me open the gallon and come running, and meow until I throw down the ring.  They also love the laser light, the will chase the little red light  around, until we finally get tired of doing it.  Its fun to play with them with it.   Especially going around them and them flying in circles trying to catch it.  Or to let them think they caught it under their paw, then shut the light off when they raise their paws its not there and they look at the floor like where did it go.  Its fun.

Here is my Mickey that I think is part Maine Coon.....he's a gentle giant.  He likes to ride around in my daughters double doll stroller.  I'll have to try for a full body shot later, he's a big boy.

Mickey is a good looking boy. I see the same big mane. Very similar looking to mine who I am threatening to rename. It's as though I got him just for my daughter. He follows her around like they have been life long buddies. When I went to bed last night, I stopped in to Hannah's bedroom to say goodnight and he was lying beside her while she was doing her homework. This morning I found him lying next to her bed. I do have to say though, it's good to see them be such good buddies.
I told her that I was going to name him banana, then I'd have a Hannah - banana! She did not see the humor.

He has some toys but doesn't seem to want to play with them. Maybe in time. I can see where the laser light would be fun though.

Wow,beautiful cat. Love the thick fur. You said he was afraid of you,give him time,be will come around . He may have been in a house with only ladies or once in awhile a male human. When we got Harry he was 2 yrs old and never been around dogs, I opened the closet door in the bedroom and that was his safe,hidey place. he could run there when afraid  and come out when it was safe. It took Harry several months to get used to our house hold. You might want to try giving him a special treat,put it or throw it to him and add several pieces to get him to come to you. He will learn and feel you won't hurt him.
  Thanks for posting the beautiful photo. :)

Oh I be lovin' that cat!  Rex the Rapscallion, Hannah's Bananna, something like that!! lol   But I have to agree with Joyce on the Ralphie name, with that hair--he'll be doing THAT soon enough (hairballs)  {:-P;;  ya know

He's a beautiful cat, and cats always go to the person that doesn't try so hard...they can pick out a non-cat lover out of a room full of people and decide to sit on THEM, when the cat lovers are just dying to pet them!  It's a cat thing :teehee:

Just for the record;

Charlie is his name.
I will email my granddaughter tonight and let her know that one of the names that she gave me is his name.
That makes it special for sure.
He loves my daughter, I just supply the fresh bluegills.  :)

Charlie is a great name for a Maine coon . . . they are more like toddlers than like cats and should have appropriate names.  And somehow, hairballs have never been a problem with either of mine . . . . not sure how with all that hair.

I feed my IAM's with hairball control, its in a orange bag.  I have him with lots of fur, but I also have pure Persian.  He's nothing but hair!

Here's a pretty good full body shot.  My dh is 6'3" about 190 lbs....might help judge him.

Kim your boy is gorgeous too!!  You guys are really making it hard for me to resist adopting another animal!!   {nono}

Steve I like the name Charlie!  Don't feel bad that Charlie won't come to you.  My cat doesn't care for me and I'm the one that feeds her and scoops her litter box.  She tolerates my DH, but she loves my stepson.  The odd part is that my stepson is only over every other weekend.  My cat will sit forever with him and just purr away!  LOL!!!  There is no rhyme or reason to a cat.   ::)
