American Lotus Pond
« on: August 15, 2012, 07:11:05 PM »
We took a drive last weekend to a spiritually healing area nearby called Wizard Wells. I've been going through some distress at work and needed to clear my mind. While we were on the way there we drove past a large mud pond just filled with giant American Lotus. I just love the teal color of the pads.

This is my hubster's hand for a size comparison

Here's a good overview of the pond

Me stealing a pod  ;D

The turtle at the center of the Wizard Wells 'Labyrinth of Love'

My offering to the labyrinth..a treasured bit of Arkansas granite that I got from my brother's yard

A seed pod from the Golden Phoenix that Tinkster sent me

My Desert Rose and Pride of Barbados blooms  o(:-)

Got a bit carried away with the pictures  ;D

Great pics!  We have a pond that we pass regularly that has the yellow lotus in it.  About a month ago it was beautiful.  The only thing is, it looks like crap all winter long with all of the dead plants. This is in a really nice subdivision.  I have a feeling they will be killing it before long.

They can really spread in a hurry and with no one cleaning up the dead plant debris, this pond must really look yucky in the winter too. I would not wish to be the caretaker of that pond, my normal sized yard keeps me busy enough  ;D
