Thank you all. I take all the good wishes and prayers available!
I am in good hands. It is not a unique procedure.  It was funny , I had no discomfort for three days and was questioning my decision. I tried the treadmill with a slight grade. At five minutes it kicked in. For some reason the recumbent bike is not a problem.  Walking is what gets me. If we are to travel a lot of walking is a must.

My internist says I will handle it well. Had many tests. Passed them all.
I am told it is a 10 week recovery. Therapy as well.
I was told it would be overnight in the Hospital. Now they say maybe two, even three!
Others I know tell me they were told exactly the same thing.

 I think all this chat is me convincing myself that I made the right decision!!!! {:-P;;

Thanks again...

I am home at last, not over night or even the 2 or 3 days  she spoke of no way to get to my desktop(upstairs)
Thanks to thr amazing iPAD I am able to post this, my son in law says " in a few months you wii be like new  and forget about it.  Sage words, I hope.
It is far more significant a surgery then I was led to believe!
My thoughtful wife rented a hospital bed. It helps. No climbing stairs...yet
Yes,a lot of therapy!

It was a "Laminectomy" it removes bone and opens a canal, thus relieving pressure on my nerves and hopefully the leg and hip pain
I was doing very well, pain free for 4 days! Began questioning my wisdom of felting this procedure done.
Time will tell if I made the right decision.?

I am so glad you are home and resting Jerry. You will surely be glad you had this surgery done, afterall, what were your options except debilitating pain and very limited mobility.  Prayers for your quick recovery and even if you are feeling like running around the house chasing Elaine----don't!   ;)

Oh good, you're home. There's no place like home, especially when you need care and attention. I hope you behave and the surgery was a success.

There are improvements. Small yes. But very evident. A Nurse therapist will be here  this morning.
Thanks for all the nice thoughts.

The drs assistant told me a crock  stuff !  Oh, sure you can go to auditions!  Maybe she meant in 10 weeks?

I can see me going In a walker !  Usually stairs anyway.  My wife knew better.   I listened to the pro. My wife knew more.  Nor was she "selling" anything .
I am walking a lot. A relative term.  Pro therapy begins Monday.
Do I sound annoyed?  Itis because I am.

Thank you Pam!  I googled your town! Sounds like a good place to live !!!! o(:-)
