tootsie I am so sorry you lost your fish. Fish arriving dead is terrible. My orange fish are goldfish muts. I have big koi in the pond with the banana trees behind it. The one that shows all the water lettuce and water hyicenths. Yes you can save the pictures. My husband is the one who does so much of this to help me. I could not do this without him. We are both retired so it is a wonderful hobby. I been doing this 28 years. I started in 1985 with 3 hardy lilies and a cow tank. In 2000 I met fernlady and she sent me 2 tropical water lilies. Well that was it for me. Obsession hit me. LOL!

Wow Vickie!!  Everything is gorgeous! Don't give Vickie a container that holds water--she will make a garden out of it!  ;) Are your bananas hardy? I would like to try them, but not if I have to dig them up each fall.  Would I ever like to just sit and talk with you about your plants, and fish and gardens.... 8)

A veritable ponder's paradise!! You're lucky to have your DH help....you've put a lot of work into all your ponds and plants!

Is that a variegated papyrus?  It's gorgeous!

kittyzee all bananas planted in the ground are hardy. Others that are not are in pots. I have more tubs not pictured. I have mosquito fish in every pond and tub. And a couple more smaller ponds, and 2 more kiddy  ponds. We just bought a 5ft x 14ft fiberglass container to make a pond to replace 2 kiddy ponds. Yes it is a variegated papyrus I have wanted one for years.

Here is the fiberglass tub that will be a new pond. It was a bargain I could not pass up.  It is 5 ft x 14 ft. The liner that is going to go in it I traded for waterlilies. My husband is going to frame it  for support. This will be interesting.

I swear Vickie, you have more plant specimens that most garden centers/water garden stores! And I mean it when I say I'd love to just sit and pick your brain about plants/water gardens! Everything looks just beautiful and I know how much work it takes to keep it looking that way.  I think you just may be the QUEEN!!!  :D  :worship:

That's a nice tub and 5' is such an easy width to keep things 'pinched'.  Great find.

I also have to say you have the best well behaved water lettuce I've seen.  Mine got so ugly (each individual plant) and over-sized I don't grow them now.

The new tub is great!  Was it once a van top?

We think it is for a van conversion. It is new though, never been used a friend bought it at an auction and sold it to me for $50 including delivery. What a steal. LOL! If it holds water here it is a water garden. LOL!

And a liner will make just about anything hold water...

I once had a lily and fish in a Rubbermaid cart lined with a plastic tarp.  I added a fountain pump and a DYI filter.  I raised my first ever fry and tadpoles in that cart.

Oh, so much to see and all of it beautiful! I grow lots of cannas and never thought of trying them in water! I love the water lettuce and hyacinth, those are forbidden here :-)  Where did you get the variegated papyrus?

Pam you have to get cannas use to water slowly.  Not just plunge them in water all at once .You put them in a saucer of water and over time raise the water level slowly. There are true water cannas they are Longwood cannas. I did the same thing with banana plants. Here is a pic of a water banana.
