Pond is DISASTER....Leak
« on: September 20, 2013, 05:26:26 AM »
HI all,

It's been a long time since I've been here. I have been taking heavy class loads. Monday Mom's neighbor called and said something was wrong with the pond. (Mom's away). It was almost 9:00pm and getting dark but I could see the fish gasping for air, hear my new pump struggling, waterfall not running and the liner floating UP! I had to call my son home from work to help me get the fish out.
So since Monday we have been pumping water out from under liner and trying to keep fish alive in tubs. We lost our two largest precious babies, Carl and Opal (who was gifted to us from Roz). It is a sad loss for the family.

Hoping to get all the water out this weekend and hopefully find a fixable leak. What a mess.
Kathy

Oh no! I hate it when that happens. Leaks can be hard to find.

So sorry about your tragic loss, and the problems you are facing with the pond. Hoping it is an easy to find and easy to repair type leak.

No luck finding it so far. We have all the water drained out from under the liner and its lying back on the ground. All the water is out of the inside too. Only thing I can think to try is to fill it a little each day and see if the water level drops, at least it would give me an idea of what area/level the leak is at. Does that make sense? Never had this issue before.

So far the rest of the fishies are ok. They are is a big blow up kiddie pool.

Fill it up in stages, mark or measure the water.

Doug found the leak, it was in the plumbing. Sooo lucky it wasn't in the liner, but so sad we had to lose our 2 HUGE koi over it.

Hi Esther.
That stinks! I was ready to fill it in and make a garden of it, I'm so glad Doug was able to fix it. I have 17 credit hours this semester, I just don't have time for problems. LOL I'm so sad about the loss of Carl and Opal. It's really heartbreaking.
