A hose end fluctuator?
« on: February 22, 2007, 04:32:51 PM »
A pal who is an engineer mentioned this device. he knows my concerns with evaporation in my absence and the pond sitter not topping off.  if this happens the pump will be starved.

yes, i know about float valves, but it will be a chore to get to a live water source
Ben says this gizmo is battery operated and i can set it for a few minutes a day in my absence.
absence think?

Is it set up to break the flow of electricity to the pump if the water level goes down? I'm not an engineer.

If your talking about a single hose timer for a sprinkler, that screws in between the faucet and the hose, that should work fine as long as you have the flow set and the time to match or exceed your water requirement. If you set the flow low and the time long it leaves more room for error than a short blast on the timer, as well as keep the hose from blowing around with high water spray.

I haven't any idea what you mean by "hose fluctuator"

My pal used that term I think. the idea was it would let some water into the pond daily and lesson my concerns of the water level dropping to low.

There's something around like that because we had something like that for the cows on the farm. But I don't know anything about it. Do a Google search.
