For those who were loosing text after inserting a smiley...
« on: February 27, 2007, 10:20:05 AM »
For those who were loosing text after inserting a smiley... I have removed the Spell Checker, I assume that was the problem with disappearing text.

Please let me know if you are still having trouble.

Cheers,
Sean

I was fine after I turned that option off. I didn't know if you had seen that in the thread with Andy's pond cam.

I noticed it was happening when I was trying to post about the car wreck.  I just turned it off and had no more problems.  Its not that big of a deal to have a mis spelled word here or there.  We know what each other are talking about.

Tried posting last night and had problems so I deleted some of my messages. Today seems fine.

I uninstalled the spell checker this morning and I assume it was the culprit with the smiley's and lost text.
Please let me know if anyone is still having this disappearing text problem.

Seems like that took care of it Sean. Unclicking it didn't do the job though.

Thanks,

Sean I was using Spelling Cow on a PHPBB based board and didn't have a lot of trouble but never tried it with SMF. I bet you're right in guessing that was the problem. All has been well here. Have you looked at Tiny Portals for SMF? I haven't tried it either.

There was a version of Tiny Portal for SMF but it caused too many problems so they have suspended it till the developers can narrow down the problems. Some people are beta testing a new version, I would prefer to wait till they work out the bugs. I like the idea behind tiny portal but don't think we will use it here any time soon.

Sean, I have a different Question??? I know I know!  ::) Did I do something wrong in my profile to get notifyed of every singel post? I mean say I'm watching 6 threads and 49 different replies come in, I get everyone of them in my email? Maybe 8 of the same thread but different people. Is there not a way to make it so we get one notice per thread? Once your there ya read all that came in any way, then ya don't have to clean out so much in the mail box? Just a thought??? ;) Or ok Gripe if you will! >:(-

I don't use the mail notification for that very reason, I just click the "MARK ALL MESSAGES AS READ" (See Attached Photo) button before I log off the forum, that way every time I come back, all the new posts are new since my last visit. No need for an email notification as all posts since my last visit are new.

Cheers,
Sean.

Hi Debbie, if you go to the bottom of Chit Chat main page (or any of the other main pages) you will see several icons. One shows you what to look for if you have been responding to a post. This icon will appear in the first column beside the title of the post. Hope this helps!
