Humidity seems to make a differance

These are the first aerial pads I've ever had on a lotus. We were cool and humid for about a week, that must have made a difference. It is suppose to be at or near 100* the rest of this week. We'll see what happens now.

Hope they continue to do well.
My lotus always took a beating when the temps would get too hot & I imagine your humidity is next to nothing in your location.

10% humidity in the summer is about normal for us.

Sue, congratulation on your first aerial pads! Have you tried shading your lotus part of the day? May help to cut back on some of their heat and sun. I would try it for a few weeks if it appeared that the lotus began regressing due to low humidity.

It is now in as much afternoon shade as I can manage and I do water close by regularly, so as much humidity as possible also. Also the first time I have had a lotus in moving water...hoping that will help also.

We are getting rain again this morning, if we are lucky maybe they will thrive long enough to at least see a bud. The lotus pot is sitting right next to the skippy so there isn't anyplace that could be more moist.

Jerry, we get stir fried everything especially since we have to conserve water. Lessen a few more bog pots this time around. May even hack out more elephant ears in the pond. They really suck water on hot dry days.
