Lily pictures

Not all of my lilies have hit prime this year due to my being slow to divide and fertilize, very cold winter, and an unusually colder summer.  BUT I still have plenty of pretties to look at every day along with lots of baby tropicals coming along nicely.

There is never enough room for all of the water lilies that I want ;-)

More.  Craig shared this unnamed beauty with me --elegant pink bloom with incredible mottled deep maroon pads.

I love variegated pads, they add so much interest when there are no blooms.

We have also had some cooler days even in July.  I might have a week with heavy blooms and then another with not so many.

This week is suppose to be mid 90's, so I expect more color.

I like the color of the unnamed lily you got from Craig.

Do you have to pay for city water or do you get water from a well?  I would think you'd have a high water cost to keep your tanks full if you paid for city water.

Lovely blooms, and those are INCREDIBLE leaves on the one that you got from Craig ! ! !
Looks like the leaves hold their pattern as they age better than most too.
Thanks for sharing your photos. Motivates me to take better care of the ones that I have.
I need more tanks!

Thanks.

Smack dab in the middle of suburbia on a small lot, so there is no way for a well.  Have always paid for city water, so I guess we are used to it.  Although I do expect the rates to start going up a lot.  Have every nook and cranky filled with plants otherwise I would set up rain barrels.  This past week the news kept saying 2-3" of rain so I let the ponds get low to catch as much rain as possible.

Love how strong and healthy the blooms are raised so high and bright!  I like the multicolored pads too.  Your yard is amazing!

The coloring on that pad is amazing.
I funnel the rain water from part of my homes roof to top off my pond system via a temporary extension I attach when rain is predicted. Saves a ton on the water bill.  In fact I have not added any water from the hose all this year so far due to consistent rain. I have also seen attachments that you can install at any height along the downspout that can be used to divert part of the water to a rain barrel or even a above ground tank pond.

I like that ideal!!  Unfortunately it doesn't rain (much at all) here in SoCal.  I can't collect rain until 1st rain cleans the uglies off my roof  :'(  That requires a pretty good rainfall.....ain't gunna happen here any time soon.  Hoping for a rainy winter!!
