"ponds" waking up
« on: April 25, 2015, 07:11:27 PM »
It has been quiet on the chat...my "ponds" (stocktanks) are starting to wake up.  We had some very warm weather last week so I took the opportunity to divide some pond plants that were jumping their pots (or threatening to do so), divide the hardy water lilies which were starting to wake up, and I put some of the tropical lilies into their "baby pots."  I had moved my lotus purchased from "matherfish" last year from the unheated greenhouse a while ago b/c I needed the space to work.  Today I saw a leaf starting to break the surface of the water. :-)  I debated whether or not I should divide it this year but I decided to wait another year.  There is still more to do to finish getting the ponds ready, but it is a start!

Anyone else have ponds waking up?

My hardies have pads at the surface. This past week was cool and rainy but the upcoming week looks nice so I will be dividing then. My lotus still appear to be sleeping. They should start waking up in the next two weeks. I still have my garden to plant, fry to move and weeds to be pulled. Plenty to do around here still.

The turtles took care of my plants!  I keep some in a few tubs.  I found one called Brass Buttons. It likes water fine. Also Watercress. I don't dare put the latter in the pond.

I learned HERE that bananas do were well in a pond.  I wired the pots to stakes near the pond edge.  If not those Terrapins will surely dump them.

I wasn't able to post pictures either for my original post.  I thought it was because the picture was too large which has happened before when I used a specific setting for the camera.   I was going to take other pictures and change the setting on the camera but now it seems like other people are having issues as well.

Same here. Our Sean will fix it. I resized mine, but it still failed.
