Overcast, rainy day and a night heron was checking out my pond at around 11:00 AM.
Put the net over the pond, should be safe now.

Glad you saw him before you lost fish.

Good thing you've got a net up because those darn birds can be persistent. My new neighbor behind me helps out by scaring off the heron if they see it perched on the fence or the roof. I kept a net up all winter on one of my larger ponds.

There is never enough room for all of the water lilies that I want ;-)

Sounds like you have nicer neighbors now, Kat. Are they permanent or renting?
For the first time ever I spotted a blue heron and then a darker blue heron days apart scoping out one of my larger stock tanks. No fishes in any here, but they can help themselves to the never ending amount of tadpoles I have there. Do they eat tadpoles? Especially when the taddies eat my water lilies!
