Lots of blooms today...
« on: August 19, 2006, 01:18:36 PM »
Not much had been happening on my patio this year, I didn't plant any annuals early like usual and the perennials really tool a long time to get going.

Her is a photo of some action finally happening about my patio.

Another Aristolochia Gigantea about to bloom

Passiflora Belotii aka Alato Caerulea

Passiflora Caerulea

Passiflora Constance Elliott

My blue hybrid waterlily on it's third changeable day becoming a lavender

a Red Bolivian Fuchsia

another Fuchsia I like

More, continued in this thread. http://www.americanponders.com/forum/index.php?topic=177.new#new

I really like the color of that last fuchsia.  Can't have too many fuchsias or passion vines.

Oh my - Gorgeous!

So, explain to me again why a California gardener can be jealous of a Canadian gardener in the weather department?

Taking another look at the P. Caerulia. Even if it is the common garden variety passiflora, it is still my favourite - so fresh and crisp looking.

Cheers,

Mike

Mike I have caerulea plants coming up all over my backyard.  I'd love to send you a couple if you don't have it.

I love the seedling in it's lavender state.  And I always love pics of passiflora . . . .

Hi Sean,

I still maintain you have the most productive patio per square inch that I have seen!  Beautiful passion flowers!  Have you ever gone to Ft Lauderdale?  They have a Butterfly Zoo, but what is also interesting the Florida Passiflora Society has an exhibit there that has just about every hybrid I have seen.  Worth the admission just to see the passiflora.

Teresa - Thanks so much - but this is one I do have. Sean cultivated a lot from seed here, about a year ago, and I planted them liberally. Now, the Belotii does prove to be a tad more of a weed for me, but the Caerulia is all going strong too.

Now, just this very afternoon, I was musing on pulling out some bougainvillea (of which I have too much) and letting the passies run amok. Despite my best efforts with my new chain saw, the bougainvillea has reached up to the utility lines - and L.A. has a decided lack of sense of humour when ones landscaping escapes the confines of ones yard.

Cheers,

Mike

Just stunning, all of them.  Those Passiflora have really caught my attention.  Its something I'm going to have to check into getting.  Love the bloom on them, so unusual.  I pulled them up on a website, oh there are so many varieties.  I might be in trouble...lol

Beautiful Passifloras, love them!  o(:-)
Fuschia's die off here mid summer. Too hot for them but they are beautiful while they last. I think there is a hardy fuschia that I tried but it didn't do well here.
