A couple from this morning.

The first is a S. American nightbloomer in the subgenus Hydrocallis, which is why I had to help it open, Nymphaea rudgeana.

The second is a seedling from a line of lilies that seem content to grow and bloom in 80% shade.

Neat night bloomer.  Did you know that I'm going to be the first person to create a blue nightbloomer?   ::)  Not sure how I'm going to do it tho...
Wow on the second one!  Guess that means Teresa will have a blue lily and a pink one?  Yeah for Teresa!

You may laugh, but I already tried to create the first blue nightbloomer.  Figured I'd use N. lotus for the nightbloomer and N.ampla for the color.  So I got a 'Blue Ampla' and set to work....took me awhile to realize Blue Ampla was a sterile hybrid that resembled WBG...so never got seed to even try to sprout.

I have since gotten N. ampla, but it occured to me if you got a blue night....how would you ever see it?<g>

That little S. American nightbloomer is so sweet.  She's really pretty.  But, both are beautiful.
