Horse Hijinks
« on: April 13, 2007, 04:49:47 PM »
Hey Tammie...

I'm under siege!  The gosh darn horse has learned how to climb the back steps to get to the deck and then our backdoor.

It appears she is after the bird feed ( kept there for the Guinea), but still, it is eight steps she is navigating.  Should she be acting this chummy?

Ya know, for a guy who doesn't like horses, I think you've got a new buddy. ;D
He just wants to come in and watch TV with you.

You are in big trouble!  I've only known of 2 horses that ever figured out stairs... once they do, you better make sure you keep the doors closed!  One horse ended up in the commanding officers office at Camp Smith.  Commander was not amused... I didn't do it tho!  I did own the horse tho... but I didn't do it!
Oh - moved the bird seed.  I have a feeling it's not going to be good for her!

P.S.  - I loved the pic of Charlie's Pride, but didn't get around to posting.  I blew up another computer... I'm using hubby's horrible laptop, can't get used to the keyboard!  Email me, okay?  Once again I've lost all of my addresses...

Looks to me like now all you have to do is potty train and she's good to go as your newest house pet!   lol

Hope you never have the problems that I have had with mine.   My horses love waterlilies and they love water.   One of them got into one of the little pools I had, laid down, rolled, smashed everything.    They put me out of the "waterlily business" for about two years....so sick I was over the mess they made and the lilies they destroyed.

Hi Tammie,

Email you I will, but I had already moved the bird food just to keep her off the deck...she has been eating it forever now.  One of the first things she learned was how to grab the bird feeder I had hanging by one of the landings for the birds and empty the whole thing down her gullet.

Hi Marilyn, I remember your horse tribulations only too well!  She ahsn't shown a penchant for lilies as yet, but at the first sign of trouble the area is gated so we can keep her out.<g>

As it turns out going up the stairs wasn't the scary part, she handled that with aplomb, but going down....first time from the lower deck was more or less a controlled stumble, but from the upper deck, I wasn't about to be in front leading for that one!  But she patiently put one paw down at a time and felt for solid ground before she moved the next.  Till I saw that I thought for sure the railing was a goner.<g>

Esther I was going to say the same thing!  Hoof Craig, hoof.  Wonder what it was she wanted in the bird feed?  Does it have corn in it?
We had a horse show here today... I'm heading for bed... so we can do it all again tomorrow... and next month, and the next month...

Craig, is that your horse?  She is soooo cute, and smart, I might add.

I can see a horse managing to go up eight steps, but going down just has to be a lot harder and more dangerous.   Maybe you should build her a ramp.   {:-P;;
