Had my first Amaryllis bloom over the last week. I have a different variety that will open in the next day or two...

I've been getting home just before the sun goes down. I thought I would use God's natural light as it glowed through the petals.

Glad you liked them.

Kay, I'm glad the you enjoyed the shots. As I said I will have another variety in full bloom in the next few days and will post when it is open.

Joyce, The variegated one you sent me in the fall didn't make it. Any chance you have any pix of what I lost and the name so I can look for one again sometime.

I have the papilio I got from ebay growing on the front porch. By the looks I don't think they will bloom until summer here.

I ordered a set from Dutch Gardens the other day along with a bunch of other summer flowering items...
It includes 1 of each of the following...
1 Papillio
1 Elvas
1 Exotic Star
1 Santa Cruz
I am looking forward to these arrivals from Holland in the next few weeks.

I bet your yard is just stunning.  Everything you post is so pretty.  You have good taste.  And God's natural light made it picture perfect!

If the bloom stem doesn't come up before the leaves or with them or just after them, it isn't going to bloom this year.  If you have leaves but no bloom stem, it's going to have to go dormant before it'll bloom . . . .

That's what I suspected but was hoping against hope that it would not be that long.

I found a surprise in one of my pots yesterday . . . . a bloom stalk sent up after the leaves were already showing a couple of inches . . . but it almost never happens and if the leaves are more than a couple of inches, it most likely won't.
