Garden labels .... latest version
« on: May 10, 2007, 09:11:33 AM »
OK
This is the latest version
A small block of scrap mahogany
Drill a hole from top to bottom to hold a galvanised 4 inch nail
Drill a wider hole at the top to countersink the head of the nail about a third of the way down
Insert the nail and tap well in, and then glue a piece of dowel to conseal the head.
Stain the top with mahogany wood stain
Varnish the lot with exterior varnish
Add the label
(the label is a laminated label from a Brother labeller)
Hey presto :)

Those look like something you'd see in the botanical gardens!

I love it

Very classy - they put my flimsy plastic labels and Sharpie markers to shame!

zI like that.. I am so bad at being in a rush to get to many plants into the ground that are dying and say I will go back and label then I dont and I forget where they are all and come spring I will think hmm something needs to go here and dig and remember much latter something else was there.. I really gotta starting labeling!

Could be interesting.... Anyone have a book of weed names?   lol lol That's pretty much how my poor flower beds look right now.. I was hoping to get some of the work done this Saturday... Don't know how that'll turn out tho...  Very nice markers!!
Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.
