Acer Drumundii
« on: May 22, 2007, 01:52:29 AM »
A cousin of the common sycamore with a very pretty variegated leaf
It can sometimes revert to green if you are not careful :)

I like it!

And how does one prevent it from reverting to green Sam?

I would think by carefully removing all green leaves Kaz, before they take over :)

Yes, Cutting out any reverted growth is what one would do for any variegated plant that reverts. It is pretty common.

My A. p. 'Butterfly' occasionally puts out big green leaves instead of it's usual tiny variegated ones.

That tree is beautiful. Does it drop crap constantly like it's cousin the Box Elder? Acer negrundo?
Which is also beautiful but a terrible mess and it reverts by the huge branch. My neighbor has one and I hate it. It drops crap year round. The wind blows towards my yard so I get to deal with it.

Not sure what you mean by 'crap'
I think over here that word means something different from what it means to you  ;D
I doesn't drop too many leaves until autumn
I had to remove a full branch which had reverted and was spoiling the tree.  It was easy to do, because the high winds last week broke it off for me :)
