The first lily bloom this year is:
« on: May 23, 2007, 04:29:25 PM »
Midnight! Normally the hardies are in full bloom by now but this year we only have a few buds still underwater. The tropicals are doing very well in the greenhouse and today Midnight opened it's first bloom. It's very small but still just as pretty. Sandra Lyn has several buds just below the surface and should open soon too.

Thanks for viewing my pretty little lily.

I've never heard of Midnight, but I love the depth of the color! What color is Sandra Lyn?

Thanks Shae,
I don't know much about Midnight but just happened to see it at a nursery and liked it. It has done very well for me for 4 years now. It has a lot of petal and is a very pretty deep purple to a dark blue. It's a hard colour to photograph well and ends up looking more purple than it really is. Anyway any lily that over winters for 4 years is a winner.
Sandra Lyn is also very pretty and another favourite of mine. I got it from Sean a couple springs ago and it has overwintered as well. It also produced two small plants this fall. Here's a photo taken last summer.

Thanks LeeAnn. Midnight would be a good lily for you to try. It's survived 3 winters here so far. It's a very nice dk blue-purple and does well in smaller pots.
