First bloom in TX: Green Smoke (pics)
« on: May 26, 2007, 01:36:42 PM »
Kat (waterlilygardening.com) sold me a few waterlilies last weekend and was nice enough to let me pick them up at her house! Already potted and fertilized and only about 9 miles north of my house--sweet! So here is the first bloom! I just got a big box of marginals from Tammie that look fabulous and I should have some great photos of those soon!

Jessica, that is one of the most accurate pics of Green Smoke I've ever seen. Great job.  O0

OK then Jessica. You got waterlilies in Texas. Where are you keeping them? I never thought about what you did with them when you left Florida. Glad to hear your house finally sold there. It must have been a pain to have to wait.

Very pretty.  I keep my lily collection very simple, one pink, one white, one yellow and one red.  I added a Colorado last summer.  Now I think I really need one of those.

Great photos there. I believe Green Smoke is the most difficult lily to get good (accurate) photos of.

Tell me I did not just end a sentence with a preposition.

Cheers,

Mike

P.S. Hope you made a killing with your FL real estate!

Esther, Dh brought my lilies in the second truck. We moved our first truck on around Jan. 8 and I started working on the 15th. Dh went back to finish up the house and then came with a second load. I have one of those 3' round black containers from Lowes and also a barrel liner. The lotus are in the same "bowl" pots. It's temporary!

Karen, sounds like a great addition!

MikeW, considering how real estate is stagnant in parts of the country, including our part of Florida, I think we did well. It officially went on the MLS on around Feb. 22nd and we had a contract on April 24th or so. Closed Friday. That's record time for turn around in the current situation. All of our remodeling paid off too.

SA, I got this one from www.waterlilygardening.com, which is run by forum member Kat. You can email her from her website to see if she has availability. If not, check with forum member Enzo www.utopiaaquatic.com or forum member Tammie in Hawaii www.alohapondplants.com. And since you're in SA, you could always check with Carlos (spanishleprechaun) the awesome pond builder at www.aquaticescapes.biz...and if all else fails, try www.ewaterlily.com! Good luck!
