it is well underway and as always more work than anticipated. Our stellar webmaster hopes to get it done by mid-week.
New and old members will no longer be frustrated by slow load times.

Where is everyone? I am on my way to the "pond house", just a little place I picked up on a hunch, has 20 acres, most of them wooded and a wonderful pond, with KOI, LOI, KOI

I assume it is just luck, it has always been fast mid day like now at 1:15pm PST

early morning and later evening it slows down to a crawl. I have been saving extraordinarily long load times for the tech support team with our host to see.

Everyone can see for themselves how long each page takes to load by scrolling down to the very bottom of the screen on any page you open. Any time longer than one second to load is too long. Ideally it should be between 0.1 seconds and 1.0 seconds.

Keep an eye on the load times folks, I'd be interested to know when the worst lag times are.

Yeah, just around the time I started a thread about the board being slow for me, it sped up. It has been much faster recently, although I think it was briefly this morning that is was a bit slow. But not nearly as slow as last week, I am a happy camper here.

.22 seconds for me today, on average.

It was quite slow yesterday. I love the load speed numbers on the bottom, Sean.

Here i was thinking that it happened because Sean castigated the host company.
Once again it has been very fast for me for at least a week.
I did dump Covad as my DSL guys and now have Time/Warner. Could that be it?

Hi Jerry, Nope, not unless you had major problems viewing everything with Covad.

I am very certain the slow server is the server host itself and the machine they have us on. Hopefully they will work with us to move us to a different machine that does not have as much traffic but to move to a new Provider all together wouldn't be such a bad idea if you ask me. The prepaid contract comes up in January so to switch now and go elsewhere, we wouldn't loose much. I do not get very good results with the tech support from our current host and there is always a different person dealing with the situation so there is no history when we have an issue. I find that to be as bad as passing the buck.

I have saved that. We really need to resolve this issue with the company we are with or move in my honest opinion. That is almost (3) three minutes wait time. No wonder most of our old members have not signed back up. With wait/page load times like that I don't blame them.

I was going to agree with Sean, and say that mornings are geneally slow and mid afternoon is generally fast, but now this morning it's loading very fast. I guess that my point is that it is never the same, and you never know when it will be slow.
I say, go for it Sean, whatever you think will be best.

this morning its fast, however i have had three minute page openings. and thanks sean, i did not know the timing was at the bottom of the page.

usually its slow in the morning and evening. i must keep track of the timing for you.

Since you brought it up.....this site has never been fast for me, it is always slower than other sites. I have quit posting or reading and gone to another site pretty much every day since it started.

I have had other people tell me via emails that they also were frustrated by the slow load times and errors.

I definately vote for a new server in January!

um...I know the Canadian currency is different from us, but 113 seconds is less than two minutes here in the US....is it already October in Canada?

looking forward to seeing the host change. people should be aware that there may be a delay in connecting to the site when we move. the new static address will need to be updated and that could take up to 48 hrs or maybe more for some people.

and while 113 secs is only about 2 minutes, it felt like 3 so i let that slide!!

Our delay in changing host companies was caused by our feelings that the current host ought to be given the opportunity to rectify the problem. We did, they didn't!
