Green Smoke - Redux
« on: May 28, 2007, 05:13:47 PM »
Here are a few pix from the last few days of a couple of my N. Green Smoke lilies.
I didn't want to post on the other thread and look as if I was trying to take it over.

GAJen,
Check my post on Lily Boquets... you'll see you don't need something big or expensive to grow lilies and enjoy their beauty... Just a 5' $12 pool, a few goldfish, some oxygenators and lilies and you are good to go. You can even dig up and plant the pools if you feel so industrious and don't want to look at the pools.

I want a greensmoke!!!!  I got my Albert Greenberg in the TWL order on another list.  Lost my greensmoke last year.

Tried not to buy any new lilies this year..yeah so much for that.

I made one lily pond this year using 2 12' 2x12's and some liner.  The tank ended up being about 8x2 because my liner piece ended up being not as big as I thought.  I did double high on the 2x12's so it's about 23 inches tall.  However I have lilies double stacked in there  :o and need to get some moved out.  Just got the few new lilies I did buy planted in their 6' kiddie pool.  Have 2 2x12's to make another tank out of that with another bit of liner I have..and I just got a 8' x 2' stock tank for $50!!   @O@

Jen they don't have to be big ponds to have lilies, or as you can see, they don't even need to be a pond!  The 2x12's could even be set up in a existing garden along the house.  It's somewhat movable if the water is drained out.

A kiddie pool with seahorses and gorgeous lilies will look great in your yard!  Go for it!

It's wonderful that you share your eye for beauty with everyone. I can't tell you how much your posts inspire me with ideas for my own gardens!

hi Tim:

The last couple of photos are really nice.  It's one of the harder Lillies to photograph, but certainly easy to admire in person!

Excellent pic, it would be very hard to catch the nuance of green in that lily but you did it.  It's one of my favorites, on my wish list.

Tim, I hope you do continue posting pics.  I'm really enjoying them.  Not everyone comments on everything, if we all did the threads would be too long and all comments no pictures  {nono}   What is the motto here?  Something like 'we like pictures',  or 'more pics please'   @O@

I'll check Walmart and see if they still have some.

Mary I think my fetish for lily's has become public now......I can't help myself. We are planning a lily pond to. Now I just got a Red Flare yesterday and I am having to sit on my hands to not order a Green Smoke and a N. King of Siam. I'm sitting on them hard but dang every time I see the pics I want to order.
