Rainy day photos
« on: June 04, 2007, 08:25:16 PM »
It rained today so I got to take a day off from weeding, mowing and cleaning out the ponds. I got a few photos of the ponds this afternoon. The rain was nice after a very hot and muggy weekend.
I have let Colonel A. J. Welch grow loose in the bottom of the 4' pond for the last couple summers and it has become quite a monster with pads over 12" across and this bloom that is about 9" across. It has now grown so large it takes up about 1/3 of the pond and yesterday just plain floated to the surface. Tomorrow I must pull it out and chop it up.

Colonel A. J. Welch was a happy camper.  What a beautiful bloom, and your pond is amazing.

How in the world do you people get your lily pads so big .  Mine don't even get close to looking like that :swear:.

Beautiful!  o(:-) Fantastic pictures!
Everything looks very lush and green... the best thing about rain, IMO.
Your rocks are very pretty, too.  :)

Looks like CW is enjoying the freedom of the earth bottom!  Are you starting to move your tropicals out of the green house yet?  My waters are finally warming up so I can introduce a few.

Now if I can figure out how to keep the deer away.  Last njght I spread another 40 pounds of Milorganite and I had to wear a close pin while doing it.

Lovely photos for sure.

It was hot and muggy this weekend wasn't it? I feel like I should have lost ten lbs, sadly, I didn't.

I can't decide if it has rained enough here for me to not have to water newly planteds or not.....

Thanks for your nice comments, every one. I spent the morning hauling the monster out and chopping it up. Here's how it looks now. After lunch I need to repot the bits in the wheelbarrow. The pile on the ground is going to the compost and their is still a large piece back in the pond. I will have to find new homes for all the new plants. The ponds are full now as it is.

I guess I had better get my sore back out there and start potting.

Maryvonne, you're right - you've created a monster :o. Glad you were able to tame it LOL. Your small pond looks beautiful even in the rain.

Beautiful Maryvonne!!  All that work and that's only 1 lily!!  It makes you feel like you've really accomplished something in a day doesn't it?  Your ponds are gorgeous!  O0

Beauuutiful!  Monster lily is so healthy looking.  Must be the water.  No matter what I do my lilies are whimpy by comparison. :'(
